The present invention resides in a method of manufacturing a bearing ring () for a rolling element bearing, wherein the bearing ring comprises a bearing race () made of a bearing grade steel and an overmolded part () that is preferably made of a lightweight metal such as aluminum or a thermoplastic material such as polyamide. According to the invention, the method comprises a step of hardening at least a raceway surface () of the bearing race prior to a step of joining the overmolded part () to the bearing race () in a molding process. In a further development, the method comprises a step of temperature control, to ensure that the temperature of the raceway surface () is kept below a predetermined value during the molding process.

Method of manufacturing a bearing ring

The present invention resides in a wheel bearing unit () having an inner member () and an outer member () rotationally coupled to each other by at least one row of rolling elements (), whereby at least one bearing inner ring () is mounted on the inner member (). The inner member () comprises a first section () and a second section () that at least party lies radially inward of the first section (). According to the invention, the first section () is formed from a first material and the second section () is formed from a metal material, preferably a lightweight metal such as aluminum. The second section () of the inner member () is joined to the first section () by means of a semi-solid metal process, and to ensure a radial interlock between the first and second sections (), the first section comprises a portion () extending in a radially inward direction, wherein the portion presents at least one surface that faces away from the bearing axis of rotation (X). Thus, as the semi-solid metal of the second section () cools, it has a surface against which to radially contract, thereby ensuring a permanent join and long service life of the unit ().

Bearing unit

The invention concerns a wheel hub bearing unit for a vehicle, said hub bearing unit comprising a rotating bearing ring member () and a non-rotating bearing ring member (), where the rotating bearing ring () has at least a radially extending wheel mounting flange () with a reference flange surface (), wherein a gasket () with at least a sacrificial metal gasket surface is provided on the flange surface (). Hereby, corrosion protection of the surface of the wheel mounting flange of a hub bearing unit is realized in a cost-effective manner.

A bearing unit comprises a rolling element bearing with at least two rings which are each provided with at least one raceway and at least one set of rolling elements which are in contact with the raceways as well as at least one tubular sheet metal element connected to one of the rings. The sheet metal element at least partly has a mounting part with non-circular cross section, and the mounting part being mounted to a counter-part with a correspondingly non-circular cross-section of the ring or connected to the ring.

An electric screw actuator system, e.g. for an electrically driven and controlled steering device, comprises a screw actuator, an electric motor () engaging the screw actuator through a reduction gear mechanism (), electronic operating means for operating the screw actuator electrically, and a mechanical back-up system for operating the screw actuator in the absence of electric power e.g. in the case of an electric power failure of in the case the electric power is switched off, maintenance, garage parking etc. The mechanical back-up system comprises a manually controllable operation member () and an electromagnetic coupling (), said coupling disengaging the rotation member from the screw actuator in the case of nominal operation and availability of electric power, and engaging the rotation member with the screw actuator in the case of electric power failure.

A manual control device for electrically driven and controlled steering, and/or accelerating and/or decelerating of a road vehicle, that includes a hand grip device, sensors for sensing a force and/or a movement imposed on the hand grip device which correspond to a desired steering direction, and/or acceleration and/or deceleration of the vehicle, as well as a manual lever device comprising at least one mechanical connection for mechanically steering, and/or accelerating, and/or decelerating (e.g. maintenance parking etc.) of the vehicle in the absence of electric power (e.g. in the case of an electric power failure or in the case of electric power switched off) maintenance, garage parking etc., the manual lever device being swivelable or rotatable about at least one axis for actuating said at least one mechanical connection.

A steering device () for drive-by-wire functions in a vehicle comprises a base () which can be fixed to the vehicle interior at the location of the driver, and two steering grips () at opposite sides of the base, which steering grips each can be gripped by a hand of the driver, said steering grips being coupled and being moveable with respect to the base in mutually opposite directions.

An actuator including a housing accommodating a screw mechanism and a drive including a motor. The screw mechanism includes a nut and a screw, one of which is rotatably supported with respect to the housing. Upon relative rotation of the nut and the screw, linear movement of one of the nut and the screw is obtained. At least a rotatable component of the drive, for example, the rotor of the motor, is rotatably supported on the screw which is rotatably supported with respect to the housing.

A clutch actuator unit comprises a housing (), a screw mechanism and an actuator head which at one end engages the screw mechanism () and at the other end has an actuating end (), which actuator head () can be displaced in axial direction by the screw mechanism upon driving the screw mechanism. An actuator comprises a housing () which contains a screw mechanism () and a motor () which is drivably connected to the screw mechanism (), said screw mechanism providing a linear movement in response to a rotational movement of the motor, and comprising a screw () and a nut () one of which is supported rotatably with respect to the housing (). The linearly displaceable member of the screw mechanism is drivingly connected to a pump mechanism for providing a flow of medium.

A continuously variable transmission system comprises a continuously variable transmission having two pulley sets each with two discs defining a V-shaped groove, drive means-for varying the width of said groove and a belt extending between said-pulley sets in the grooves thereof, as well as a forward-reverse control connected to the shaft of one of the pulley sets and a clutch connected to said forward-reverse control, said pulley sets, forward-reverse control and clutch each being provided with a respective actuator. The actuators of the forward-reverse control and of the clutch are of an electromechanical type.
