A crane housing for a leg encircling crane to be mounted onto a slew bearing includes an annular base component, two support components, and a frontal component, each having bulkheads. The support components are connected to the annular base component at respective lateral sides of a front segment thereof. The frontal component is connected to the front segment of the annular base component, between the two support components such as to interconnect these. The two support components and the frontal component together form a front torsion box, which provides torsional rigidity. The load of the boom, as applied on the support components, subjects the base component via the torsion box to a torsion that is distributed over the front segment of the base component.

A pile upending and holding system includes a support assembly configured to be mounted on the vessel and to provide compensation for wave-induced motion of the vessel to maintain a predetermined X-Y location of the pile holder independent of said motion, and a pile holder mounted on the support assembly to be tillable about a substantially horizontal tilt axis. The pile holder includes a lower ring and an upper ring, and a pile holder frame supporting the lower ring and upper ring, the upper ring longitudinally spaced from the lower ring. Each of the rings include pile engaging devices distributed about the circumference thereof, each pile engaging device being adapted to engage an exterior of the pile extending through the lower and upper ring. Each of the lower ring and upper ring includes a ring base fixed to the pile holder frame and one or more movable jaws, movable between a closed position for holding and guiding the pile and an opened position for entry of the pile. The pile holder is provided, below the lower ring thereof, with a pile foot end support for engaging a longitudinal end of the pile to limit longitudinal movement thereof.

A slew bearing includes a stationary bearing ring to be fixed to a base, and a moveable bearing ring to be fixed to a moveable object, wherein the stationary bearing ring and the moveable bearing ring are configured to enable rotation of the moveable bearing ring relative to the stationary bearing ring about a rotation axis. A main axial bearing and an auxiliary bearing are provided between the stationary bearing ring and the moveable bearing ring, wherein the moveable bearing ring includes one or more main portions and one or more auxiliary portions, which one or more main portions are moveable relative to the one or more auxiliary portions between an operational position, in which the main axial bearing transfers the axial loads between moveable bearing ring and stationary bearing ring, and a raised maintenance position, in which the auxiliary axial bearing transfers the axial loads between moveable bearing ring and stationary bearing ring and the main bearing is allowed to be inspected and/or maintained so that the slew bearing during inspection and/or maintenance is still operational.

A marine knuckle boom crane includes a crane housing which is rotational relative to a pedestal about a vertical rotation axis and a knuckle boom assembly attached to the crane housing. The knuckle boom assembly includes a main boom, the inner end of which is connected pivotably about a first horizontal pivot axis to the crane housing; and a jib, the inner end of which is connected pivotably about a second horizontal pivot axis to the outer end of the main boom, wherein the jib is pivotable at least between an extended position in which the tip extends mainly forward from the main boom, and a folded position in which the jib is folded back, essentially parallel along the main boom. In order to position the jib with respect to the main boom, a tensioning member is provided extending between the crane housing and a guide structure connected to the jib.

Marine knuckle boom crane

A crane includes a crane structure defining a substantially vertical rotation axis; a boom connected with a first end to the crane structure to be rotatable about the vertical rotation axis; a trolley moveable along the boom in longitudinal direction of the boom; a hoisting cable and a load connector. The load connector is arranged at a free end of the hoisting cable to be connected to a load for hoisting purposes. The trolley includes a cable guide to guide the hoisting cable and an attachment configured to temporarily attach the load connector to the trolley to fix the position of the load connector relative to the trolley.

A marine knuckle boom crane includes a crane housing which is rotational relative to a pedestal about a vertical rotation axis and a knuckle boom assembly attached to the crane housing. In order to position the jib with respect to the main boom, a tensioning member is provided extending between the crane housing and a curved extension guide connected to the jib.

A double jib stewing pedestal crane includes a main jib, a secondary jib, and a secondary jib positioning device to support and position the secondary jib with respect to the main jib and actuate the pivotal movement of the secondary jib. The secondary jib positioning device includes a secondary jib positioning cable, a spoke structure fixed to the secondary jib and extending radially outward, and a tension chain connected at one end to the secondary jib positioning cable and at the other end to the secondary jib and/or to the spoke structure. The spoke structure is adapted to support the tension chain.

Double jib slewing pedestal crane

The present invention relates to a crane vessel and a method of lowering an object from such a crane vessel into the sea. The crane comprises a stationary pedestal, a crane housing that is adapted to slew relative to the pedestal about a vertical rotation axis and a boom, comprising an inner end which is connected pivotably about a horizontal pivot axis to the crane housing. A luffing device extends between the boom and the crane housing, adapted to position the boom and actuate the up-and-down movement of the boom. Furthermore an object suspension device is provided to which an object is connectable, and a hoist assembly which comprises a winch and an associated hoisting cable, the hoisting cable extending from the winch, via a departing sheave on the boom, to the object suspension device, such that upon actuation of the winch the object suspension device can be raised and lowered, wherein the one or more portions of the hoist cable between the boom and the object suspension device form one or more suspension cable parts. According to an aspect of the invention, a hoist cable guide is provided which, at an operational position thereof, is adapted to guide at least one of the suspension cable parts between the boom and the object suspension device. According to another aspect of the invention, the hoisting cable is provided as a multiple fall cable and a hoist cable retention device is provided on the boom. The hoisting cable comprises one or more first suspension cable parts extending between the object suspension device and a radially outward location of the boom, and one or more second suspension cable parts extending between the objection suspension device and a radially inward location, such that the first and second suspension cable parts extend at V-shape with respect to each other, at an angle of preferably between 20 and 60&#xb0;.

A double jib slewing pedestal crane includes a main jib and a secondary jib, and a secondary jib positioning device to support and position the secondary jib with respect to the main jib and actuate the pivotal movement of the secondary jib. The secondary jib positioning device includes a secondary jib positioning cable; a spoke structure fixed to the secondary jib and extending radially outward; a tension chain connected at one end to the secondary jib positioning cable and at the other end to the secondary jib and/or to the spoke structure, wherein the spoke structure is adapted to support the tension chain.

A crane vessel including a revolving hoist crane and a method of using such a vessel are provided. The hoist crane includes a jib, main hoisting means and auxiliary hoisting means for raising and lowering a load. The main hoisting means include a main hoisting tackle with a main hoist upper block connected to the jib and a main hoist lower block. The main hoist lower block is assembled from a sheave block including the sheaves of the main hoist lower block and a load attachment assembly having the lowering weight and the main load attachment device. The crane vessel is provided with a load attachment assembly storage device for storage of the disassembled load attachment assembly and displacement means capable of engaging with and displacing the load attachment assembly while it is assembled to the sheave block and when the jib is supported by a jib rest.
