A sheet material having a textured surface coating thereon. The sheet material is formed by a substrate having on at least one face a cured, heat-dried or heat-cured lacquer layer formed by a lacquer having fibers incorporated therein. The fibers extend into the surface to form a textured surface.

Stoving lacquers which are essentially useful in 'coil coating' and provide a finish simulating that of a metallic lacquer comprise a stovable colored film-forming binder composition having colorless transparent particles dispersed therein.

Novel stoving lacquers and their use

The wear resistance and other properties of a lacquer are improved by incorporation therein of particles of a high molecular, inert, wear-resistant plastics material having a diameter of 2 to 200 microns. Such a lacquer is particularly useful for application to metals and may be stored after application.
