Switchable lens systems and methods of manufacturing switchable lens systems are provided. A representative switchable lens system includes an imaging area and a seal line. The imaging area includes a first glass plate, a second glass plate and a lenticular structure. The lenticular structure is arranged in between the first and second glass plates and is provided with a plurality of cavities in between the lenticular structure and one of the first and second glass plates. The seal line surrounds the imaging area at its periphery, and is provided with a throughhole. A filling channel is located between at least a portion of the periphery of the imaging area and the seal line to provide a connection between the throughhole and multiple ones of the cavities.

Switchable lens systems and methods of manufacturing such systems

Display devices for displaying a first and second view are provided. A representative display device includes a color generating layer (CF) and an array layer (AR). The color generating layer incorporates a plurality of color elements arranged in a two-dimensional array extending in a plurality of rows in a horizontal direction (X) and a plurality of columns in a vertical direction (Y). The array layer includes array metal circuitry covering a portion of each of the color elements. The color generating layer includes means for preventing light generated for one of the first and second views from being transmitted by reflection by at least a portion of a surface of the array metal circuitry in a direction of the other of the first and second views.

Reduction of cross-talk for a dual view display device

The present invention is related to an asymmetric aligned display having asymmetric viewing angles. The present invention provides a dual-view or 3D display capable of displaying two images of unrelated or related content along different directions with asymmetric viewing angles. The asymmetric viewing angles of the display device of the present invention can be realized by the introduction of multiple sub-pixel pitches into a single display. To be more specific, the present invention provides an asymmetric aligned display by realizing the asymmetry design in the sub-pixel itself. Consequently, the angular extends of the respective viewing windows or images displayed along different directions can be different or asymmetrical. The asymmetric aligned display of the present invention is, therefore, capable of displaying images along different directions with asymmetric viewing angles and windows without affecting the outer boundaries of the viewing windows.

Asymmetric viewing angles for a dual view display

A method for forming a display panel including the following steps is provided. A barrier layer having a plurality of openings is formed. A color filter layer having a plurality of units and a plurality of black matrix structures among the plurality of units is formed over the barrier layer. A first width of the plurality of openings and a second width of the plurality of black matrix structures are determined based on a first aperture ratio of the barrier layer and a second aperture ratio of the color filter layer.

Display panel and method for the same

A display device for displaying a first view and a second view incorporates: a color generating layer; a barrier layer (SB); and a light source; the color generating layer includes a plurality of color elements arranged as pixel elements, the pixel elements being arranged in a horizontal direction and in a vertical direction; each color element having a pitch (Py) in the vertical direction; the light source being arranged such that, during use, light generated by the light source passes through the barrier layer and the plurality of color elements of the color generating layer; the barrier layer, comprising a stepped barrier pattern of blocking structures and openings extending in the horizontal and the vertical directions, being arranged for defining a viewing angle of the first view and a viewing angle of the second view; and the light source being arranged for generating collimated light.

Reduction of cross-talk in vertical direction for a dual view display devices

A representative LED array includes: a base substrate (BS) and a plurality of light emitting diodes, each of the light emitting diodes comprising a stack of a first contact layer, a semiconductor stack and a second contact layer, the semiconductor stack being on top of the first contact layer, the second contact layer being on top of the semiconductor stack; the plurality of light emitting diodes being arranged in pixel matrix on the base substrate as LEDs of at least three types (R, G, B); the LEDs according to their type (R, G, B) being arranged as at least a first, second and third sub-pixel in the pixel matrix for emission of radiation of a respective specific at least first, second and third color; and interconnection circuitry on the substrate, operative to connect to the light emitting diodes of the array for addressing each of the light emitting diodes.
