A droplet ejection device includes a pressure chamber; a nozzle orifice arranged in fluid connection with the pressure chamber; an actuator system for generating a pressure wave in a liquid present in the pressure chamber; and an obstruction member arranged in the pressure chamber in a position opposite to the nozzle orifice. The obstruction member comprises a first surface facing the nozzle orifice and rigidly coupled to a wall of the pressure chamber via a support. The support is arranged near the first surface of the obstruction member. The droplet ejection device according to the present invention may further comprise a structured nozzle inflow means which provides a gradual transition from the hollow shaped liquid passage to the nozzle orifice. The droplet ejection device prevents or at least mitigates air entrapment in dead volumes present in the interior of the droplet ejection device.

A method of forming an array of piezoelectric actuators on a membrane () which includes the steps of preparing a piezoelectric comb-like structure having an array of islands that are integrally connected by a continuous top portion and that form piezoelectric layers of the actuators, the islands having an electrode at a bottom side, attaching the comb-like structure with its bottom electrode to a surface of the membrane, removing the continuous top portion of the comb-like structure to thereby separate the actuators from one another, and forming top electrodes on the top surfaces of the piezoelectric layers of the actuators.

A method of manufacturing a piezoelectric ink jet device having a pressure chamber, a flexible membrane delimiting the pressure chamber, a piezoelectric actuator mounted on the membrane, and a rigid substrate attached to the side of the membrane carrying the actuator, which includes the steps of providing the piezoelectric actuator with an electrode on at least one side, attaching the actuator with its electrode side to a carrier plate, bonding the rigid substrate to the side of the carrier plate carrying the actuator, and removing material from the carrier plate on the side opposite to the actuator and leaving only a thin layer of the carrier plate which then forms the membrane.

A method of adjusting an exposure device suited for an electrophotographic printer, the exposure device includes a plurality of light-emitting elements. The method includes the steps of energizing selected light-emitting elements according to a selection scheme, using a pre-determined energy level for energizing each selected light-emitting element and obtaining a corresponding exposure intensity distribution from the exposure device. The method further includes the steps of predicting a toner area coverage distribution, based on the obtained exposure intensity distribution and on a pre-established transfer function, obtaining an attribute of the predicted toner area coverage distribution and determining the setting values for the energy levels for energizing each selected light-emitting element such that the obtained attribute becomes a target attribute.

Method of adjusting an exposure device for an electrophotographic printer and exposure device

A device for delivering ink to a sheet of paper which includes a body member containing side surface portions which extend into a head surface, the head surface being inclined at an angle relative to the side surface portions forming a head end portion, an ink distribution chamber provided in the body member, a plurality of ink delivery nozzles disposed at the head end portion and a plurality of ink passages extending along one or more of the side portions between the ink distribution chamber and the ink delivery nozzles, and an ink propulsion overall located at said ink passages for selectively propelling ink through the ink passages to the ink delivery nozzles, wherein the ink passages are formed as substantially parallel continuous open ducts in the side surfaces and the adjoining head surfaces of the body member.

A device for delivering ink to a substrate including a body member, an ink distribution chamber, a plurality of ink delivery nozzles, a plurality of ink passages formed in a side body member for delivering the ink from the ink distribution chamber to the ink delivery nozzles, the ink passages being formed, at least partially, as grooves in said side of the body member, and a filter element for filtering the ink entering the ink passages, said filter element being disposed on said side of the body member covering the grooves.

A device for delivering ink to a sheet of paper or the like, which includes a body member containing side surface portions which extend into a head surface portion, the head surface portion being inclined at an angle relative to the side surface portions and the body member between the end surface portion and the side surface portions being formed with a curved transition zone, the body member containing an ink inlet for letting in ink originating from an ink reservoir, ink delivery nozzles disposed at the head surface portion and ink passages in the form of ducts extending between the inlet and the ink delivery nozzles along one or more of the side surface portions of the body member, a first ink-tight layer which covers the ducts, the ducts terminating in ends at the ink delivery nozzles, and a second ink-tight layer which covers the ends of the ink passages in which second ink-tight layer the ink delivery nozzles are formed, and ink propulsion device operatively connected with the ink-tight layer for selectively propelling ink through the ink passages to the ink delivery nozzles.

A cleaning member for cleaning a surface which, for example in an image recording device, is brought into contact with toner powder or an image receiving material carrying toner powder. The cleaning member comprises a surface layer of a high-viscosity polymeric material that is sticky at room temperature. Preferably, the polymeric material is a polymer or polymeric mixture having a viscosity between 10.sup.4 and 10.sup.6 Pa.s at 20.degree. C., and a very suitable polymer is polyisobutylene, having a molecular mass of about 100,000. The cleaning member is preferably provided with mixing means for mixing into the mass of the sticky layer impurities that are deposited on the surface thereof.
