A wellbore drilling system includes a drilling tower and a drill floor; a drilling tubulars storage rack adapted to store multiple drilling tubulars; a tubular racking device mounted on the drilling tower having first and second tubular racking assemblies; and a well center tools storage structure. The motion arm of the a first tubular racker assembly is provided with a connector, and well center tools and a tubular gripper member are provided with complementary connectors. The well center tools storage structure is arranged such that the well center tools stored therein are within reach of the first tubular racker assembly so as to allow connection of a well center tool to the motion arm while the well center tool is stored in the well center tools storage structure. With the at least one well center tool connected to the motion arm of the lower tubular racker assembly, the well center tool is operable above the drill floor.

Wellbore drilling system

An improved system and method for laying on the seabed a pipeline and/or installing a subsea riser including one or more accessories are disclosed. In the system, a trolley rail for an auxiliary trolley is provided which includes a retractable trolley rail part supported by the tower via an associated mobile rail support assembly. Displacement of the retractable trolley rail part together with the auxiliary trolley when arranged on said retractable trolley rail part with respect to the tower is allowed, between an active position, wherein the auxiliary trolley is positioned to engage on an accessory in the firing line, and a retracted and non-operable position wherein a clear envelope about the firing line is created.

An aspect of the present invention relates to a wellbore drilling system comprising a drilling tower and a tubular racking device having at least a lower first tubular racker assembly and at least a second tubular racker assembly operable at a greater height than the first tubular racker assembly. The system further comprises one or more well center tools, each adapted for operation above the well center of the drill floor, e.g. an iron roughneck tool for making up and breaking out of threaded tubular joints. According to the present invention, the tubular racking device comprises a third tubular racker assembly which is vertically mobile and which is operable for tubular transfer between the firing line and the drilling tubulars storage rack in combination with the second tubular racker assembly, e.g. in case of failure of the first tubular racker assembly, and wherein at least one well center tool is adapted to be connected to the motion arm of the third tubular racker assembly, which well center tool is operable above the drill floor, whilst the first and second tubular racker assemblies are operable in combination for tubular transfer between the firing line and the drilling tubulars storage rack.

A pipe gripping assembly for handling a pipe includes at least two gripping members, wherein each gripping member comprises a pipe engaging portion engageable with the outer circumference of a pipe, wherein at least one gripping member is rotatable about a pivot axis, and wherein the pipe gripping assembly further comprises actuation means to rotate the at least one rotatable gripping member such that the pipe gripping assembly is movable between an open position for receiving a pipe and a closed position in which the pipe engaging portions engage with a pipe, wherein each rotatable gripping member further comprises a locking body engaging portion and the pipe gripping assembly further comprises a movable locking body and associated displacement means to move the locking body such that the pipe gripping assembly is lockable in the closed position by moving the locking body to a locking position.
