A microphone assembly having a housing, a transducer, and an electronic circuit. The housing has an opening, and the transducer is disposed within that opening. The electronic circuit covers the opening such that the transducer is surrounded by at least the electronic circuit and the housing. The electronic circuit includes a substrate and an amplifier for amplifying the electrical signal into an amplified electrical signal which is coupled to a connection means. The connection means provides a direct electrical connection between the electronic circuit and a receiver. The amplifier is mounted on the substrate and disposed on a side of the substrate of the electronic circuit facing the transducer. The receiver is disposed on a side opposite the side and outside the housing.

Microphone for a hearing aid

Apparatus and method for manufacturing an electroacoustic transducer for, for instance, a hearing aid, with a diaphragm arranged in a housing. The diaphragm is attached onto a film or punched from a sheet of material, such that along the circumferential edge of the diaphragm, a free strip of film or a strip of material remains present, in a capillary space between the circumferential edge of the film and the inner wall of the housing, or in a capillary space between the diaphragm and the strip of material, a polymer of a low viscosity is provided to connect to diaphragm with the housing wall. Through the method, the production of the transducer is greatly simplified.

Electroacoustic transducer with a diaphragm and method for fixing a diaphragm in such transducer

An electroacoustic transducer employing a polymer connection for maximizing volume displacement. The transducer includes a diaphragm in a case and means for converting. The diaphragm includes a central portion. The means for converting converts between an electric signal and a vibration of the central portion of the diaphragm or vice versa while the diaphragm is coupled to the case. The central diaphragm has an outer edge, and between the outer edge and the inner wall of the transducer case a capillary space is present in which a polymer is provided as a coupling between the outer edge and the inner wall of the case.

Method for fixing a diaphragm in an electroacoustic transducer

A microphone includes a separate end cover with a sound port. A diaphragm is directly attached to the end cover. The backplate is positioned within the housing against a ridge near an end of the housing. A spacer is positioned against the backplate. The diaphragm engages the spacer when the end cover, with its attached diaphragm, is installed in the housing. The backplate of the microphone has an integral connecting wire that is made of the same material as the backplate. The integral connecting wire may have an inherent spring force to provide a pressure contact with the accompanying electrical components. The integral connecting wire electrically couples the backplate to the electronic components within the housing and transmits the raw audio signal corresponding to movement of the diaphragm. The housing may have first and second ridges on which the printed circuit board and the electret assembly are mounted, respectively.

A microphone for converting sound into an electrical signal includes a generally cylindrical housing including an inlet for receiving sound, an inner backplate, and an outer backplate. The inner and outer backplates are generally cylindrical and substantially concentric with each other. A cylindrical membrane is disposed between the inner and outer backplates. The membrane divides an interior of said housing into a front volume and a back volume. The front volume is in direct communication with the inlet. The backplates and/or membrane are charged. Electronics are included for detecting movement of the membrane relative to the inner and outer backplates in response to the membrane moving when subjected to the sound. The backplates and membrane may be of a shape that approximates a cylinder, such as those that have a hexagonal or octagonal cross-section.

Miniature microphone

A transducer which is particularly suitable for hearing aids is set forth which has improved resistance to mechanical shock. The transducer includes a coil having a tunnel, a magnetic member with a pair of magnets defining an air gap and an armature extending through the tunnel and into the air gap. The coil is rotated with respect to the magnetic member in a manner such that the coil forms a stop for the armature, thus preventing excessive deflection of the armature leg in the occurrence of a shock. The armature may also be provided with expanded edge portions which assist in limiting its deflection.
