Shaft bearing assembly comprising a bearing housing having one or more rolling bearings therein, through which a shaft protrudes on at least one side, which housing is provided with an inlet opening for the supply of lubricant and an outlet opening for excess spent lubricant and seals acting on the shaft and outlet opening, characterized in that the bearing housing is provided with a temperature-and pressure-sensitive outlet valve for draining excess lubricant from the housing, which outlet valve opens at a predetermined temperature and closes when the temperature falls below that temperature.

Shaft bearing assembly

A rolling bearing assembly for mounting a shaft or similar member which has a housing encircling the shaft with at least one rolling bearing installed between two securing rings. The assembly consists of an outer and an inner race and at least one row of rolling elements. It has annular chambers in the housing on either side of the bearing, closed off on their outer edges by annular seals which are attached to the housing and in contact with the bearing shaft. It has at least one hole opening into one of the annular chambers throught the wall of the housing, capable of being placed in communication on the outside with a feeding device for introducing a lubricant into the housing. There are two channels (17, 17') extending through the wall of the housing (1) and located diametrally opposed to each other, each opening into the closed annular chamber (8), and in that a trough-like receptacle (18) is accommodated in said channels, in which an excess of lubricant can be collected.

Rolling bearing assembly

A system for measuring the variation in the capacitance of a bearing installed on a shaft in a housing. It is shown to include an electrically conductive measuring ring interposed between the bearing and the housing, an insulating layer surrounding the measuring ring wherein the insulating layer between the bearing and the measuring ring is considerably thinner than the remaining portion of the insulating layer, and measuring means connected to the measuring ring and the shaft to measure the variations in the capacitance of the bearing. In such a system, capacitance measurements are made without significant interference from the capacitance existing between the housing and the shaft.

A device for measuring the lubrication of surfaces which roll or slide relative to one another and are lubricated by a lubricant. The device includes an oscillator generating an AC voltage signal whereby the capacitance between the lubricated surface is measured by first grounding the capacitance and then connecting it by way of a condenser to the output of an oscillator. This output is connected further to a first input of a modulating circuit while the voltage occurring across the capacitance is delivered to a second input of the demodulating circuit. The output of the demodulating circuit is connected to a processing unit which derives a signal corresponding to the thickness of the lubricant film as well as the percentage contact time during a certain interval of measurement from the output signal of the demodulating circuit.
