A separator apparatus for separating solids from a gas-solid containing feed resulting in a gas-rich stream, the separator comprising an upright hollow circular housing fluidly connected to a dipleg for discharging solids positioned below the housing; a gas outlet tube for discharging the gas-rich stream from the circular housing, which outlet tube protrudes substantially co-axial from the top of the housing; inlet means for the gas-solids feed so arranged to create, in use, a vortex flow in the circular housing; and a sieve positioned between the lower part of the circular housing and the upper part of the dipleg, which sieve has openings which do not allow particles having a diameter greater than 0.75 times the diameter of the dipleg to pass the sieve and enter the dipleg and wherein the total area of the openings in the sieve is greater than 2 times the cross-sectional area of the dipleg.

Separator apparatus

A filtration apparatus is described wherein entrained solids are removed from particulate-carrying fluid by filtration under vigorous conditions with filter tubes. The filter apparatus comprises a plurality of tiers of filters, each tier comprising filter tubes supported on a tube sheet. The apparatus also contains a tiered conical sluicing system to concentrate and centralize the particulates. The solids discharge from the filter tubes and pass through the sluicing system to exit the apparatus through particulate outlet means. The use of the apparatus is characterized by a reduced re-entrainment of particulates in the fluid leaving the apparatus.

Filtration device

An apparatus is disclosed for the separation of solids from a mixture of solids and fluid, comprising a housing defining a plurality of separation chambers, each chamber being arranged around a central longitudinal axes and having a curved inner wall such that the intersection of the inner wall and a plane perpendicular to the central longitudinal axes is a concave line, whereby all central longitudinal axes are in one plane, and each chamber having an inlet opening, a solids outlet opening and at least one fluid outlet opening, whereby each fluid outlet opening is in communication with a fluid outlet conduit, and whereby the solids outlet opening of each chamber is in communication with a solids outlet conduit which is in tangential cooperation with the chamber, which apparatus further comprises one supply conduit for the mixture of fluid and solids whereby the supply conduit debouches into a supply opening that is formed by the combined inlet openings of all chambers which openings are communicating with each other, and in which apparatus the supply opening and the solids outlet openings are arranged at the same side of the plane of the central longitudinal axes of the separation chambers.

Process for the separation of solids from a mixture of solids and fluid

Apparatus for controlling a flow of granular material wherein a first member has a first conical side wall and a second member has a second conical side wall arranged adjacent to the first conical side wall so that a passage is defined between the wall of the adjacent side walls, wherein at least the second conical side wall of the second member is provided with a device for introducing aeration agent into the passage.
