A brake pressure control device is described. The device includes a pneumatic brake booster which has at least two chambers that are separable from each other. At least one of the chambers can be operated as a low-pressure chamber and at least another one of the chambers can be oerated as a working chamber. The device further includes a master braking cylinder in which a master cylinder pressure is generated over the pneumatic brake booster, and a hydraulic unit, which is installed between the master cylinder and at least one wheel brake cylinder of at least one wheel. The hydraulic unit includes an arrangement of switchable valves as well as least one pump. A hydraulic boost of the brake pressure is achievable with the assistance of the hydraulic unit. A wheel brake cylinder pressure may be generated in the at least one wheel brake cylinder with the assistance of the hydraulic unit, the wheel brake cylinder pressure being greater than the master cylinder pressure. A drive input point can be determined at which the hydraulic unit is activated taking into account the time-related derivation of the master cylinder pressure, the differential pressure between the pressure in the working chamber and the ambient pressure when the brake pedal is unactivated, as well as of the time-related derivation of the differential pressure between the pressure in the working chamber and the ambient pressure.

Brake pressure control device and a method for activating and deactivating a hydraulic brake booster

An inlet pressure effected by the driver is detected in the brake system, and a driver's wish value formed from this pressure is used as the basis for controlling the brake system. In the formation of the driver's wish value the measured pressure value is corrected according to control parameters including either status information for a return pump and associated values, or flow information such as volume change in the master cylinder.

A deceleration regulator which generates a nominal deceleration value, preferably a PID controller, can be adapted to the requirements of the brake engagement. A guidance magnitude filter is used, a preliminary control dependent on the nominal deceleration is performed, and the integral component of the regulator is activated only in certain states of operation. In certain courses of the nominal value, a portion of the regulator is corrected.

An acceleration signal is generated in a motor vehicle having acceleration and deceleration states. The signal generated is used in a vehicle control system. A first value, representing vehicle acceleration, is initially determined as a function of at least one value acquired by a sensor. Furthermore, a second value representing the instantaneous acceleration and deceleration state of the vehicle is determined. The magnitude of the first value determined is limited as a function of the second value determined. Then, the signal representing the vehicle acceleration is generated as a function of the limited first value.

An operational state of a brake system is determined by detecting operating parameters such as actual vehicle acceleration, state of the brake light switch, vehicle velocity, inlet pressure at the master cylinder, and status of the ABS. A desired value representing the vehicle deceleration is formed depending on a depression signal derived from actuation of the brake pedal by the drive, and additionally depending on the rate of change that signal. The actual vehicle deceleration is compared to the desired value and the vehicle is automatically braked when the actual deceleration deviates from the desired value.
