Firearm(s) with a breech lock are disclosed. One such firearm includes a first pivoting lever which, when actuated, releases the breech lock and a second lever, which when actuated also releases the breech lock. The first and second levers are located on opposite sides of the weapon.

Automatic firearms with a detachable breech lock

Safety devices for use with a handheld firearm are disclosed. The safety devices include a lever that can be pivoted into the travel path of the hammer of the firearm to preclude the hammer from striking a firing pin. In an example, the lever is connected to the trigger such that the safety device is released when the trigger is pulled. In another example, the lever protrudes into the magazine shaft of the firearm such that the safety device is only released when a magazine is inserted into the shaft.

A spring closing assembly is disclosed which is adapted to be selectively installed and removed from a firearm. The illustrated spring closing assembly includes a rod having a free forward end which defines a slot dividing the free forward end into fork prongs. The assembly also includes a spring mounted on the rod, and a projecting part located on a first one of the fork prongs. At least the first fork prong is resiliently displaceable in an inward direction. The assembly also includes a washer dimensioned to be forced onto the free end of the rod by inwardly displacing the first fork prong. At least one of the projecting part and the washer is chamfered to promote the inward displacement of the first fork prong. The washer is captured between the projecting part and the spring.

A bolt assembly for use in a firearm is disclosed which is movably arranged in a weapon housing and which includes a bolt carrier and a bolt head. The bolt head can be alternately inserted in at least two positions in the weapon housing to adapt the firearm to eject spent cartridge casings in a desired direction. The bolt assembly also includes an extractor which is fastened laterally on the bolt or bolt head for withdrawing a cartridge casing from a barrel of the weapon housing during return of the bolt assembly, and an ejector integrated in the bolt mechanism which removes the cartridge casing from the bolt assembly after extraction from the barrel.

An automatic firearm with a bolt assembly which is moveable along a bolt assembly motion path between a closed position and an open position, a magazine which advances cartridges by spring force across the bolt assembly motion path into this motion path, and a lock which only allows the first cartridge of magazine to advance into the bolt assembly motion path when the bolt assembly is situated in or near its open position, is disclosed. The lock is preferably created by a plate that extends parallel to the bolt assembly motion path and is mobile in its direction of extent, is pushed between the first cartridge and the bolt assembly motion path, and holds back the cartridge until the bolt assembly has reached or almost reached its open position.

Apparatus and methods are disclosed for releasably securing a retractable shoulder stock relative to the casing of a firearm. The retractable shoulder stock includes a slide rail which is displaceable relative to the casing. The slide rail defines a recess. The shoulder stock also includes a catch lever which is mounted for rotation about an axis. The catch lever has a peripheral surface that can be manually engaged to rotate the catch lever about the axis. The catch lever is positioned to selectively engage in the recess to releasably lock the slide rail in a first predetermined position.

An apparatus is provided for use in a firearm having a housing defining a first ejection opening and a second ejection opening. The apparatus includes first and second dust flaps mounted adjacent the first ejection opening for movement between an opened position and a closed position. The apparatus also includes a bolt assembly adapted to be selectively mounted in a first assembly position and a second assembly position for longitudinal movement within the housing. When the bolt assembly is in the first assembly position, a longitudinal movement of the bolt assembly moves the first dust flap to the opened position and, when the bolt assembly is in the second assembly position, the longitudinal movement of the bolt assembly moves the second dust flap to the opened position.

A firearm is described which has a trigger mechanism, a cock and a cocking actuator that is separate from the cock. A striker spring acts on the cocking actuator to drive the cock. A cocking actuator safety mechanism, which is independent of the trigger mechanism, is provided for securing the cocking actuator in its cocked position. The illustrated safety mechanism has an operating handle which sits next to the lug of the cock, so that the safety mechanism can optionally be operated together with the cock.

An unlocked self-loading pistol and a conversion kit for modifying a locked self-loading pistol adapted for firing normal and powerful cartridges into an unlocked self-loading pistol capable of firing weak cartridges as well as normal and powerful cartridges is disclosed. The unlocked self-loading pistol includes a return spring which is closely surrounded on the outside by a sleeve composed of an elastomer material. The length of the elastomer sleeve corresponds approximately to the length of the compressed return spring. The sleeve absorbs a part of the movement energy of the breech and passes it on into the grip. The conversion kit can be used to convert a locked self-loading pistol into an unlocked self-loading pistol as stated above and vice versa. The disclosed conversion kit includes: an alternate barrel which does not come into locked engagement with the breech, the abovementioned elastomer sleeve, and, optionally, a substitute return spring. The locked self-loading pistol and the conversion kit together form a weapon system which can be used to assemble a locked self-loading pistol or an unlocked self-loading pistol, as desired. The unlocked self-loading pistol can fire very lightly filled ammunition and normally filled ammunition without malfunction, and additionally ensures that the breech will withstand the firing of heavily filled ammunition.

Hammer for a portable firearm

A locking mechanism for a self-loading hand-held firearm includes a breech block carrier mounted for sliding movement in the longitudinal direction of the weapon and a breech block head which is rotatable about a longitudinal axis between a locked position and an unlocked position. The breech block head has a transverse control pin which is received in an oblique sliding guide formed in the breech block carrier. The sliding guide has first and second guide edge opposite to each other with different angles of inclination with respect to the longitudinal axis.

A cocking trigger mechanism is disclosed. The cocking trigger mechanism includes a hammer element that is moveable between a front position and a rear position, and a drive part that is moveable between an uncocked position and a cocked position. The drive part is arranged to entrain the hammer element during its movement into the uncocked position. A striker spring biases the drive part into the uncocked position. A trigger causes movement of the drive part against the force of the striker spring from the uncocked position to the cocked position and actuates its release. When the drive part is moved independently of the trigger into the cocked position, it is held in this position until subsequent operation of the trigger. The hammer element is connected to a return spring that forces it into a rest position that is situated near its front position as long as the trigger is not operated so that it always assumes a defined position.
