A device for locking an actuating lever of a shifting device of a gear-change mechanism of a motor vehicle, in a lever position associated with a particular shift state utilizes a swivellable locking element connected to a brake pedal via an adjusting linkage to be moved into a locking position by a restoring spring holding the brake pedal in the unactuated rest position. Depression of the brake pedal releases the actuating lever. The adjusting linkage contains a resiliently-acting intermediate member acting on the locking element control to position a counter-control cam into engagement with an actuator control cam to lock the actuator. When the actuating lever is actuated into a nonlockable lever position, the locking element is moved into a floating position against the spring force of the intermediate member, while the brake pedal remains essentially in a rest position by virtue of an enlargement of the effective length of the adjusting linkage.

An arrangement is disclosed for improving the seam strength of plastic containers produced by coextrusion blow-molding which are provided with a diffusion barrier layer incompatible with the base material. To improve the seam strength, the same is therefore designed as a web seam which is folded in labyrinthal shape and the folds of which are welded to each other. The length of the web seam in the unfolded state is equivalent to at least three times the thickness of the coextrudate and the web seam is folded at least doubly.

A valve device is disclosed for an aeration and air evacuation pipe leading away from a motor fuel tank. In a known valve device for aerating and evacuating air from a motor fuel tank, a positive pressure valve is provided, the closing force of which is generated by a compression spring which is braced against its valve element. This closing force generally corresponds to the positive pressure value of a water column of 300 to 400 mm. Such a positive pressure valve is therefore unsuitable for aeration and air evacuation devices in which the required positive pressure value is very low, only approximately 80 mm WG for example, for safety and functional considerations, and correct functioning of the valve element of the positive pressure valve is required to be ensured even at low temperatures. The positive pressure valve of the novel valve device fulfills these requirements, in that its valve seat is provided on a downward sloping end face of a duct, and the valve element is a weight component which rests upon the valve seat exclusively by the effect of gravity. By coordinating the characteristics of duct cross-sectional area and weight of the valve element, any desired closing force can be determined to close tolerances, while it is impossible for condensate to accumulate under the valve element, and therefore for the latter to freeze fast.

In a dashpot for fuel tanks the cover of the intake chamber of the dashpot is dome-shaped and the suction filter is arranged at an interval below the cover. This arrangement prevents gas bubbles also being drawn off via the suction filter together with fuel.

A device for trapping fuel vapors during the refuelling of a fuel tank having a vapor control valve and which during refuelling, is moved into an open position provided outside the tank filler pipe safety valve which closes under the influence of gravity due to certain inclined positions of the fuel tank is connected upstream of the control valve, so that no fuel can escape through the vapor vent line in the case of a crash, even if the control valve no longer closes.

A dashpot for fuel tanks is designed such that gas bubbles produced in the latter can no longer cause troublesome noises within the fuel tank. This is achieved by means of a gas separation space which is separated from the dashpot intake chamber, into which a fuel return line opens and to the upper wall of which a degassing line discharging above the maxiumum fuel level in the fuel tank is connected.

A vent arrangement for fuel tanks of motor vehicles which includes an expansion tank, with which is connected an expansion line extending horizontally in the vehicle transverse direction which includes two line sections extending in mutually opposite directions, of which one terminates in the atmosphere and prevents an outflow of fuel in the turned-over head position of the fuel tank. In order that also in special positions of the fuel tank conditioned on accidents, fuel cannot flow to the outside in non-acceptable quantities by way of the expansion line, an enlargement is provided in the line section terminating in the atmosphere in proximity of the tank side wall from which it extends away; fuel flowing out of the expansion line in a tank side position retaining the enlargement above the plane of the fuel level sucks gas out of the enlargement while the volume of the enlargement is so selected that the gas quantity present in the enlargement suffices with fuel flowing out to the outside up to the interruption of a siphoning action produced inside of the enlargement on the fuel.

An electrically conducting connector for mutually rotatable components such as, for example, components of steering assemblies of a motor vehicle wherein, in order to obtain a high operating realiability and a transmission of current from the rotatable parts to fixed parts, in lieu of conventional slip ring arrangements, spiral springs are provided which are connected, in an electrically conducting manner to the rotatable component and fixed component of the steering assembly. In order to ensure an exact central positioning during an installation of the spiral springs, end regions of each of the spiral springs rest slidably, under tension, against associated contact rings thereby resulting in an automatic centering of the spiral springs when the steering assembly is operated for the first time.
