The invention relates to a thumb orthosis (). The thumb orthosis () consists of a spreading body () which in particular has a bending elasticity and which serves for spreading a thumb () and a pointer finger (). Furthermore, the thumb orthosis () comprises holding devices () by which an end portion () of the spreading body () can be held at the thumb () as well as an end portion () of the spreading body () can be held at the pointer finger (). The thumb orthosis () is exclusively held by the two holding devices () at the hand () of the user wearing the thumb orthosis ().

Thumb orthosis and set of a plurality of thumb orthoses

The invention relates to a dynamic correction splint () with two splint parts () connected to each other via a joint (). Spring bases () of a spring device () are each coupled to a splint part () in such a way that pivoting the splint parts () leads to an altered biasing of the spring device (). The spring device () exerts a correction moment onto the splint parts () acting in the direction of a correction position of the splint parts (). The spring device () is configured and coupled to the splint parts () in such a way that the absolute value of the correction moment increases as the correction position of the splint parts () is approached. It is possible that a switching mechanism () is present. The switching mechanism () is actuated in a motion-controlled way by the pivoting of the splint parts () and at its actuation changes the coupling of the splint parts () with the spring device ().

Orthosis

A knee orthodic is provided with two load-bearing joints (), each joint having a proximal leg () and a distal leg (). The knee orthodic, may be adapted more easily to a changing knee width. This is achieved in that the proximal legs () are connected by a proximal joint () and the distal joints () are connected by a distal joint, said proximal legs () being connected pivotally and fixably relative to one another in the proximal joint () in the form of a rotary joint about a proximal joint pivot axis (P).

A joint orthosis including an upper member, a lower member operably connected to the upper member by one or more swivel axes at a joint mechanism, and a pad attached to the joint mechanism and positioned between the joint mechanism and the body part, wherein the joint mechanism includes a clip connection for securing the pad to the joint mechanism. The upper and lower members include a means for attaching the joint orthosis to a body part of a user, such as an extremity. The clip connection connects to a coupling element that is one or more of an adapter or pad bracket positioned between the joint mechanism and the pad. The pad, pad bracket and/or adapter are configured to cover over the joint mechanism and the pivot axis. The upper and lower members can include teeth that interlock with each other in order to form a synchronized pivot movement.

Joint orthosis

The invention relates to a tilt-stable rotating joint suitable for technical orthopedic components, including a forked external joint part with two limbs whose parallel inner walls pointing towards each other form a slit of a given width and are provided with flush continuous holes. A flat inner joint part protrudes into the slit and a continuous hole, and a shaft arrangement protruding through the continuous holes forms a rotating bearing surface with a cover surface. The tilt-stability is increased because the shaft arrangement is formed by sections protruding from the inner joint part, having an external diameter corresponding to the internal diameter of the continuous holes of the limbs. Stability is also increased by the fact that the shaft arrangement is rotationally fixed to the inner joint part and sliding bearings are formed between the walls of the continuous holes of the limbs and the sections of the shaft arrangement.

A joint orthosis with a first joint part (), a first splint () connected to the first joint part (), a second joint part (), a second splint () connected to the second joint part (), and a pivot hinge part () for articulated connection of the second splint () and of the first splint (), said splints () extending into the pivot hinge part () from opposite directions and laterally offset relative to one another, being arranged with their ends next to one another in the pivot hinge part (), and being able to pivot to a small extent relative to one another, can be configured with a lower overall height by virtue of the fact that the pivot hinge part () has two chambers () which are arranged substantially parallel and are laterally offset relative to one another and which are open in opposite directions, and into which the ends of the splints () extend, and by virtue of the fact that the second splint () is mounted in the end area of its chamber () so as to be able to pivot about a pivot axis (D) in such a way that the pivoting movement of the second splint () relative to the pivot hinge part () is limited by the chamber ().

An orthopedic splint, which, as part of an orthosis, is intended to bear on a part of the body, can be used with different configurations. The splint consists of two round rods () which are arranged approximately in a plane () and whose ends on both sides are inserted rotatably in round seats () of two endpieces (). Both round rods () are designed with at least one angled part () in the plane (). The round seats () of an endpiece () form an acute angle with respect to one another and are designed with an excess dimension relative to the inserted end so that, by rotating the round rods (), different relative angles extending out from the plane () can be set between the endpieces () in two end settings.

The invention relates to a brake joint for a prosthesis, in particular, to a brake-action knee joint for a leg prosthesis. There is an upper joint part, a lower joint part, and a joint shaft for pivotally connecting the upper and lower joint parts. The joint shaft is connected to the lower joint part in a rotatably fixed manner and is designed as a brake shaft. The joint shaft is surrounded by a brake arrangement, which bears upon the joint shaft it and is arranged in a cylindrical recess, which, together with the joint shaft, forms an annular chamber in a clamping part forming a central joint part. The upper joint part is mounted to the clamping part in an articulated manner via a pivot pin in such a way that the upper joint part, when loaded, impacts on the clamping part and thus the brake arrangement and thereby exerts a braking action on the joint shaft. To improve the brake arrangement, the invention proposes that the brake arrangement be formed by needle rollers, which are arranged with their axes parallel to the joint shaft. The needle rollers surround the joint shaft about its entire circumference and comprise an inner needle-roller ring, which bears on the joint shaft, and an outer needle-roller ring, which bears on the outer circumferential surface of the annular chamber and whose needle rollers engage like teeth between the inner needle rollers, and by an indexing wedge which sits on the upper joint part. When the upper joint part is loaded, in an approximately radial direction of action relative to the joint shaft, the indexing wedge presses apart two adjacent inner needle rollers in the circumferential direction of the joint shaft.

Prosthesis brake joint

A brake-action knee joint for a leg prosthesis includes a closed displacer chamber which concentrically surrounds the joint pin over its circumference, at least partially, is preferably filled with hydraulic oil, and is arranged in the associated end of the central part of the joint. The joint pin is designed as a rotary piston and is connected in torsionally rigid fashion to the upper part of the joint. The joint pin divides the closed displacer chamber into an extension chamber and a flexion chamber, which are connected to one another by way of an oil line which can be completely or partially closed by a valve plunger. The valve plunger is mounted in the central part of the joint in such a way as to be displaceable counter to the action of a valve-plunger spring pushing it into its open position and, when the central part of the joint is pivoted in the direction of flexion about the rocker pin arranged in the lower part of the joint, is pushed into its closed position by an adjusting device provided in the lower part of the joint.

A method for recovering mineral oil from oil deposits utilizing conventional flooding techniques wherein the deposit is flooded with water forcing the oil to the surface of the water or absorbing the oil in the water by use of certain additives and then recovering the oil from the flooded water wherein the aqueous flooding solution contains a surface active betaine containing as a hydrophilic residue at least one quaternary ammonium group capable of intramolecular formation of an internal salt with an acid group, and an oleophilic residue composed of at least one residue of naphthenic acids. The surface active betaines provide improved recovery of oils from such mineral deposits.
