The method for adapting the lateral and temporal resolution of a microscope image allows the detection of temporal changes in the image content, and switches over to another transmission mode on the basis of the result of the determination. The arrangement for adapting the lateral and temporal resolution of a microscope image comprises means for detecting the changes in the image content of a microscopic image. Also provided are electronic means for limiting the image content. Further means make it possible to switch over automatically to a suitable transmission mode. The means for detecting the change is an image data processing means () that ascertains salient image points and their positions within a defined image window. In addition, a comparison element () is provided and is connected to a switchover means (). In the event of a deviation in the comparison element (), the switchover means () thereupon reduces the image data of a current input image in accordance with the bandwidth and the transmission rate in order to generate a live image for video conferencing.

Method and arrangement for adapting the lateral and temporal resolution of a microscope image

The invention concerns a microscope having an image sensor () for recording the microscope images. The specimen () to be examined can be scanned by means of a stop () in the beam path of the illumination unit and a positioning unit which moves the specimen () or the stop (). Opening the stop () or removing it from the beam path permits the entire image to be scanned with the image sensor ().

A microscope with a viewing tube for visual observation of a specimen by an observer, with a control circuit for controlling electrical and/or electro-motor-driven microscope functions, and an illuminating device for illuminating the specimen to be observed is described. The control circuit is connected to a proximity sensor installed on the microscope, which responds to the presence of the observer to the viewing tube. The control circuit includes an adjustable time-delay logic element located in the control circuit for delaying switches of the microscope functions such that the microscope functions are switched after the observer is absent for a predetermined time period.
