A data transmission system having a data transmission channel () and a plurality of transmission and receiving units. The data transmission channel is an electric line which has a busbar made of an electrically insulating material and at least one electric conductor. Each of the at least one electric conductor runs in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the busbar. The lateral surface of the busbar is surrounded by one of the electric conductors and/or the busbar spaces apart at least two of the electric conductors from each other. The plurality of transmission and receiving units are arranged along the busbar, and each of the plurality of transmission and receiving units is designed to couple an electromagnetic wave into the electric line or couple an electromagnetic wave out of the electric line.

Data transmission system

A star-quad cable for transmitting electrical signals with at least two pairs of electrical conductors, wherein each conductor has an electrically conductive core and a conductor sheath of an electrically insulating material which surrounds the core radially, the conductors being arranged at the corners of a square in a cross section of the star-quad cable, wherein the conductors of a pair are arranged at diagonally opposite corners of the square, and in each case the four conductors are twisted with one another in accordance with a star-quad arrangement with a predetermined stranding factor, wherein an electrically conducive shield surrounds the two pairs of conductors radially on the outside. An additional insulator sheath (of an electrically insulating material is arranged between the conductors and the shield.

Star quad cable with shield

A star-quad cable for transmitting electrical signals, having at least two pairs of conductors, each conductor having one wire made of an electrically conductive material and a conductor sheath radially enclosing the wire and made of an electrically insulating material, the conductors being arranged on the corners of a square in a cross-section, with the conductors of a pair arranged on diagonally opposite corners of the square, wherein four conductors are twisted at a predetermined stranding factor; and a shield made of an electrically conductive material and enclosing the two pairs of conductors is arranged radially on the outside, constructed from a weave of individual shield wires. At least one shield wire or at least one shield wire bundle is stranded radially enclosing the conductors such that they run in the axial direction substantially parallel to a wire of a conductor.
