A cutting tool for making cylindrical bores includes two or More cutting inserts and radially or approximately radially directed blades which leave an uncut core, as well as chip removal devices extending in the axial direction of the tool. The cutting tool is composed of at least two coaxial parts. One part forms the boring crown with the cutting inserts, and the other part forms the support for the boring crown with a clamping shank. The chip removal devices extend axially along both parts and lead radially to the outside.

A machine tool is received in a structure that is carried along with the tool and has a sleeve extension which will be received in a tapered element with radially spreadibly tongues having end beads which will lodge behind a shoulder in teplate thereby positioning and clamping the tool; the receiver is additionally urged against the template and the tool by a piston cylinder drive.

A device for bending or levelling workpieces by means of shot peening is improved by controlled impacting and indenting using a support element having a rear wall and side walls; a plurality of force spaced apart distributing elements are arranged in the support element and in the least one layer so that at least some of them abut the rear wall of the support element; a plurality of indenting, shot peening elements in engagement with at least some of the force distributing elements in that any of the shot peening elements engage at least two of the force distributing elements; there are elements of one of the plurality which abut the side walls of the support element.

Controlled shot peening

A device for the bending and deformation of panels such as skin elements for covering cells of vehicles in the aerospace industry such as aircraft, rocket space vehicles or the like, the skin elements having inwardly directed stiffening ribs which intersect in nodes; the device has first and second deforming members being capable of engaging the skin element in points adjacent to nodes under consideration of length changes obtained by some of the ribs; the two deforming members are adjustable in relation to each other and other through a variable armature mount such that the deforming forces respectively provided into the part to be deformed are oriented in the area of the nodes transversely or nearly transversely to those ribs which extend transversely to the curvature to be obtained and consistently tangentially to the panel part in the direction of curvature and following change of curvature on account of bending; and the direction of force action as provided by the deforming members into the work part is varied such that these forces as provided by the two deforming members do not have to act coaxially in relation to each other.

Deforming panels having ribs

A method is disclosed for bending panels which are provided with reinforcing stiffening ribs. The bending is caused by upsetting or elongating the ribs. Apparatus for carrying out the method also is disclosed and includes means which engage the ribs at points spaced a predetermined distance from the panel skin. The invention is particularly applicable to the shaping of aircraft fuselage skin sections.

Method for shaping panels by a bending operation, in particular panels

This invention relates to an improvement in a hand drill with a pneumatically-hydraulically controlled advance and including a housing, a drilling drive unit adapted to be powered by compressed air and being displaceably guided in said housing by a piston and cylinder, and further including hydraulic lines, and control valves, the improvement comprising a rotatable support sleeve means secured to said housing and adapted to rest on the surface of a workpiece and surround a drill bit, said piston being a double-faced hollow advance piston means mounted in said cylinder so as to divide said cylinder into two chambers, one chamber together with one face of the advance piston means being adapted to be acted on by the compressed air, and the other chamber being adapted to be filled with hydraulic fluid and pressure-loaded by the other face of the advance piston means, said latter chamber communicating through hydraulic line means and a throttling back-pressure valve means with a cylinder means having a compensating piston means therein, said cylinder means being positioned in hand grip means connected to said housing, said advance piston means on one cylinder side being adapted to displace the hydraulic fluid against said compensating piston means thus pressure-loaded until a drilling depth adjusted by a limiter means mounted on said housing is attained or until a continuously adjustable switch means mounted in a pneumatic line is deactivated, whereby the pressure acting on the compensating piston means returns the drilling drive unit together with the advance piston means to the initial position thereof.
