A turbo-machine having a rotor, a stator, and a flow channel for an actuating fluid used to drive the rotor is disclosed. The turbo-machine has a magnet for producing a predeterminable magnetic field in the flow channel. The invention also relates to a method for operating a turbo-machine comprising a rotor, a stator, and a flow channel. Furthermore, an ion-containing actuating fluid flows through the flow channel and a defined magnetic field is produced in the flow channel, ions being deviated in the magnetic field.

In order, in a particularly simple way, to allow multiple separation and connection of line sections of a line, through which a hot and highly compressed medium flows, in particular a pipeline, through which steam flows, there is provided a double-walled flanged connection. The double-walled flange connection is formed of an outer flange and an inner flange, between which an interspace, through which a cooling medium is capable of flowing, is formed. The apparatus is particularly suitable for the connection of line sections of a steam turbine.

A turbomachine, especially a steam turbine, includes a casing, an inflow region formed at least in part by the casing for guiding working fluid, a feed for a cooling fluid, a rotating-blade carrier disposed in the casing and extending along a principal axis, and a shielding element disposed in the inflow region for shielding the rotating-blade carrier from the working fluid. The shielding element is attached to the casing by a mounting and the feed is guided through the mounting. A method is also provided for cooling one or more components of a turbomachine adjoining an inflow region for a hot working gas.

A turbine shaft extends along a principal axis and has an outer surface. The turbine shaft is formed by a plurality of cylindrical shaft segments which are disposed axially one behind the other and are braced together by a bracing element. An axial gap which is formed between the bracing element and at least one shaft segment is connected in terms of flow to two axially spaced radial passages. The radial passages each open at the outer surface of the turbine shaft. A method for cooling a turbine shaft is also provided.
