A weapon system includes a weapon having a chamber; a data input device; an aiming mechanism; and an ammunition unit that can be fired with the weapon. The ammunition unit includes a data memory for storing ammunition-specific data; and a microcontroller arranged on or in the ammunition unit and being connected, when the ammunition unit is inside the chamber of weapon, to the data input device, the aiming mechanism and the data memory. The microcontroller determines aiming signals necessary to control the aiming mechanism as a function of ammunition-specific, target-specific, and weapon-specific data transmitted to the microcontroller. The microcontroller transmits the aiming signals to the aiming mechanism.

Weapon system

A weapon system (1) having a weapon (2) with a weapon tube (3) and having an electronic system (4) for generating aiming signals for an aiming system (7) connected to the weapon (2). To ensure that the current weapon properties or tube properties are also considered in a simple manner for the determination of the aiming signals, the respective weapon-specific data are stored on a chip card (13) associated with the weapon (2) and are transferred via a chip card reader (11) to the corresponding electronic system (4) required for the determination of the aiming signals. During this process, the weapon-specific data are updated on the chip card at predetermined time intervals.

An igniting system for a projectile propellant includes a combustible support tube having an outer surface and an inner surface; a plurality of throughgoing apertures provided in the support tube; a free igniting channel coaxially surrounded by the support tube; and an ignition transfer charge formed of a pyrotechnical hard foam layer having a thickness between 1 and 3 mm and being carried on the outer surface of the support tube. The hard foam layer is composed of a large-pore inner layer and two opposite surface layers which are of densely closed structure and between which the inner layer is sandwiched.

Propellant igniting system and method of making the same

A method of producing a discarding propelling cage sabot projectile, and to a discarding propelling cage sabot projectile produced according to this method, in which, in a vulcanizing tool including an injection mold, a uniformly thin layer of rubber is applied to the rear gas pressure receiving surface of the sabot so as to secure and seal the individual sabot segments against one another. In such a method, when the liquid sealing material is injected into the injection mold, there exists the danger that, due to the high pressure existing at that time, sealing material may enter, in an uncontrolling manner, into the cylindrical inner annular gap or annulus between the sabot and the projectile body. This may considerably adversely influence the release behavior of the discarding sabot segments and lead to a reduction of hit accuracy. This drawback is overcome according to the invention, in that, before the discarding sabot projectile is inserted into the vulcanizing tool, the rear annular gap or annulus between the sabot and the projectile body is sealed by the application of a sealing means, e.g., a sealing ring, to the circumference of the projectile body.
