The invention relates to a spring system ( ) having two spring units ( ) arranged coaxially with respect to each other. Each spring unit essentially includes a flexible member ( ) and a roll-off piston ( ). The two flexible members ( ), the roll-off pistons ( ) and a common outer jacket ( ) enclose a common pressure space ( ) filled with compressible gas or with a hydraulic liquid. A contamination flexible member ( ) is mounted between the roll-off piston ( ) and the outer jacket ( ) in order to prevent a contamination of the flexible member roll-off surfaces. The contamination flexible member ( ) is clamped, on the one hand, in the region of the roll-off piston ( ) and, on the other hand, on the outer jacket ( ). The effective length of the contamination flexible member ( ) is somewhat less than the effective length of the shorter of the two work flexible members ( ). In this way, the contamination flexible member ( ) functions additionally as an end stop (pull stop).

Spring system

In a combined spring and shock absorber system for a wheel suspension of a vehicle comprising tubular rolling bellows arranged between a wheel-support structure and a vehicle body the bellows includes a space filled with a fluid in communication with a hydraulic accumulator. The bellows space is also in communication with at least one additional hydraulic accumulator via a throttle passage and via at least one pre-set differential pressure-control valve ensuring that threshold values for the internal pressure in the tubular rolling bellows are not exceeded in the event of high spring-extension and/or spring-compression speeds.

In a height-adjustable shock absorber strut for a vehicle wherein a shock absorber damping cylinder is operatively attached to the vehicle wheels and a piston rod interacting with the damping cylinder extends from the damping cylinder and is provided at its free end with a mounting structure for attachment to a vehicle body and a spring is disposed between the damping cylinder and a spring support disposed on the piston rod, the spring support structure comprises a support member which is axially movably mounted on the piston rod for controlling the support location of the spring and, consequently, the height of the strut under vehicle load.

A controllable or regulatable hydraulic shock absorber has a damping-control valve designed as a force-proportional valve and has a closing force variable directly or indirectly via a proportional magnet. The damping resistance brought about by the damping-control valve is consequently very largely independent of the stroke speed of the shock-absorber piston.
