An antiseptic preparation is provided for the production of wound dressings or bandages. The preparation includes at least one alginate and at least one antiseptically active substance selected from the group biguanide derivatives, octenidine and taurolidine. Processes for the production of the antiseptic preparations, and the use thereof, are also provided.

A method is provided for sterilizing a collagen preparation and for production of self-sterilized, antiseptic collagen preparations. The preparations may be used for producing collagen products, such as sponges, films or gels, especially for medical and/or cosmetic purposes.

A material for producing a support bandage, which comprises a support. Said support is coated and/or impregnated with a curable plastic material and at least partially configured by a leno fabric comprising warp yarns that cross between two weft yarns running in parallel. Said leno fabric comprises at least one additional warp yarn that is located between two pairs of crossing warp yarns and does not cross any other warp yarn.

Material for producing a support bandage

An absorbent surgical dressing comprising an envelope of hydrophobic fabric with an absorbent pad arranged within it is disclosed. The dressing of the present invention excludes the possibility of secondary lesions being caused to the wound or injury. For this purpose the internal pad forming the absorbent pad is kept loose, so as to allow slight movement of the pad in the flexible envelope tube thereby dissipating the shearing forces acting on the envelope fabric. Moreover, to obviate the secondary lesions from occurring on the wound, the loose threads at the longitudinal ends of the surgical dressing are closed by welding and severed. A process for the manufacture of the surgical dressing meeting these requirements is also disclosed.
