New tubular vascular implants (stents) that consist of biocompatible, thermoplastic material that have a shape memory and that contain at least one active ingredient are described. In addition, a process for their production and their use as vascular implants for prophylaxis of restenosis are described.

A process for the production of panels, webs, panel-like moldings or profiles from plastics, of high mechanical strength owing to a molecular orientation by compressive roll-stretching within the nip of at least one pair of pressure or compression rolls at roll and material temperatures below the crystallite melting point or the softening point of the plastic and above 303.degree. K. under compressive stretching. The compressive roll-stretching of the panels, webs, panel-like moldings or profiles takes place with the same or approximately the same circumferential speed of the pressure or compression rolls or without friction at pressures of 20 to 250 MPa, at a degree of compressive stretching of over 1.1.

Process for the production of panels, webs, and profiles from plastic

A method and apparatus forms a plastic part having a shape memory which has been formed to a second shape from an initial shape by the application of pressure to cause molecular orientations which are subsequently fixed by being cooled to a desired temperature and, when subjected to subsequent energy such as heating, will eliminate the molecular orientation and create a restoring force to return the part to the initial shape.

Disclosed is a process for the production of a shaped article from a thermoplastic resinous material, comprising the steps of heat plastifying the thermoplastic material; injecting the heat-plastified plastic material into a forming tool having a first shape configuration and at least one parting plane, to form a pre-form of the thermoplastic material; subjecting the thermoplastic material pre-form in the forming tool to a cooling phase; providing at least a partially new second shape configuration to the forming tool containing the pre-form; and during the cooling phase subjecting the pre-form in the forming tool having the second shape configuration to at least one pressure treatment under elevated pressure to produce a shaped article. Also disclosed are several embodiments of apparatus for carrying out the process.

Process for the preparation of injection molded-stretch formed

The application discloses a process for the preparation of plates, films, sheets, strips, rods, molded parts, objects or profiles of high mechanical strength, from thermoplastic synthetic resinous materials, whereby the thermoplastic material is initially heated in an extruder or a similar installation equipped with a mixing and heating device to at least its melting or softening point, the emerging extruded mass subjected during or after a cooling process in a forming device, pressure drawing device or other accessory installation to at least one pressure stretching at a pressure from about 90 .sup.N /mm.sup.2 to 1500 .sup.N /mm.sup.2, preferably from about 155 .sup.N /mm.sup.2 to 1000 .sup.N /mm.sup.2, and/or to at least one pulsating pressure or shearing pressure treatment. Preferably, the pressure stretched or shearing pressure treated synthetic plastic material is subjected subsequently to at least one further tempering, preferably cooling and/or processing step. To carry out the process, an apparatus is used having at least one accessory device including one or more pressure rams and at least one nozzle, slot or a similar cross-section restriction in the form of an outlet orifice.
