A risk assessment device, in particular for the risk of a severe heart functional disorder such as sudden death due to heart disease, comprising an input unit which is adapted to record or read in an electrocardiographic input signal and to output a corresponding output signal comprising a plurality of cardiac cycles and corresponding intervals, and a detection unit which is connected to the input unit and which is adapted to detect events of predetermined nature in the output signal, wherein there are provided a summing unit which is connected to the detection unit and the input unit and is adapted to add up the length of predetermined intervals connected to a detected event within the input signal and to output a corresponding sum parameter, and an evaluation unit which is adapted to evaluate the sum parameter under predetermined conditions and to output a risk parameter which is dependent on the evaluation.

Risk monitoring

A stimulation apparatus, in particular for a human heart, has a stimulation unit, a signal detector and a control unit. The stimulation unit is adapted to deliver a stimulation pulse having a pulse duration, a pulse strength and a stimulation intensity. The signal detector is adapted to detect stimulation success on the basis of a picked-up signal. The control unit is connected to the stimulation unit and to the signal detector. It is designed such that the stimulation intensity varies depending upon the picked-up signal. A time-determining unit is provided that is at least indirectly connected to the control unit and with which a time difference between the delivery of a stimulation pulse and the pick-up of the picked-up signal or a signal feature of the picked-up signal can be detected.

A cardiological device having a sensor, adapted to pick up at least one cardiac signal, and a signal processor including a first detector connected to the sensor, adapted to detect an individual signal or a feature parameter of the cardiac signal, wherein the signal processor further includes an averager connected to the first detector, for forming an average over a plurality of values of the feature parameter or over a plurality of individual signals, a second detector connected to the sensor, adapted to detect cardiological events, in particular extrasystoles, and a first comparator that is connected to the second detector, the averager and the first detector and which are adapted to determine a deviation of a feature parameter or individual signal ascertained in immediate time relationship with an event such as an extrasystole, from the corresponding average.

Apparatus for detecting fusion events upon electrostimulation of the heart

A device for maintaining or reestablishing a natural heart rhythm by generating an electrical stimulation signal. In particular a device in the form of an implantable heart pacemaker that displays at least one sensor arranged inside the patient's body for picking up a body-specific signal containing information concerning demand for heart performance, or another magnitude relevant to the heart. The device is characterized by the fact that connected downstream to the sensor is a processing unit that obtains from the measurement signal a body-specific rhythm signal whose periodicity is equal to or greater than the periodicity of the breathing activity, and thus lies above the periodicity of the heart activity, whereby the body-specific rhythm signal forms a control signal that influences the stimulation signal.

Heart stimulation device

A neurostimulator for generating stimulation pulses for the central or peripheral nervous system, particularly against pain in the region of the spinal cord includes a control circuit for generating stimulation pulses with a pulse generator whose output is connected with stimulation electrodes. The stimulation pulses are generated at periodic intervals with an activity period corresponding essentially to an effective duration corresponding to a biological half-lifetime of a body's own active substances. The control circuit creates a respective rest period corresponding to a time required by the body's own active substances to regenerate themselves for a corresponding activity period.
