For adjusting of three caliber opening rollers or guiding rolls, a light source is arranged on the one side of the roller or guiding roll, a device is located at another side of the roller or the guiding roll and receives a shadow image of a caliber contour and has a turnable, displaceable and arrestable bar template. The invention concerns a gear unit for driving the rolls of a roll train with a number of consecutively arranged roll stands. This gear unit has planetary gear sets at at least one output shaft, which are located one behind the other at short distances. Due to a crosshead provided in accordance with the invention, the output shaft of each planetary gear set is relieved of bearing forces and the torques of the gears, such that it can have a small diameter, which in turn permits a building up of the planetary gear set, such that the operating torque and the operating r.p.m.'s of the planetary gear sets can be considerably higher than in the familiar construction types.

Gearing for driving the rolls of a roll train

In a transmission for driving the rolls of a rolling line having a number of rolling stands disposed one after another, a respective planetary transmission stage is provided at several output shaft (20) and forms the output rotational speed from a basic rotational speed and an additional rotational speed. The gear wheels (2,23) of the gear wheel transmission trains transmitting the basic and additional rotational speeds are mounted on stationary bearing bushes (3, 26) which project into the hub regions of the gear wheels (2, 23) and are secured in bores or on flange facings of the load-bearing walls (5, 6) of the transmission housing (1). Only one of the gear wheel transmision trains is disposed between the load-bearing walls of the transmision housing, while the other is disposed on the outside stands. This permits the transmission to be of lighter construction and allows greater gear ratios in the gear wheel transmission trains and a smaller distance between the output shafts (20).

A device for machining a plurality of rolls (4) which are mounted ready for use in a rolling stand (3) and form a common sizing pass (6) has at least one tool (5) which is disposed outside the sizing pass (6) for machining the working surfaces of the roll. In order that the shape and size of the sizing pass formed by the rolls is as accurate as possible, a measuring device (8) engages in the sizing pass (6), and a computer (10) compares its actual values with predetermined desired values, the resulting error signals being used to control the tool via servomotors (13, 14).

The invention concerns a bearing mounting for rotating shafts, in which the main bearings are roller bearings and the shafts turn at more than ca. 3000 r.p.m. With the aid of auxiliary bearings, these main bearings are loaded radially according to the invention in order to prevent the rollers and roller cages of the main bearings from rotating with only a reduced r.p.m. in the case of nonloaded rotating shaft and being suddenly accelerated with a sudden loading of the shaft and thus wearing prematurely. This radial load results from the fact that the auxiliary bearings are maintained eccentrically shifted.

A method and apparatus for adjusting tooth flank play between two sun gears and at least two planetary gears of a bevel gear differential drive is provided in which, after establishing the operating positions of both sun gears on their sun gear shaft, each planetary gear is shifted on its shaft, previously inserted into a transverse bore of the sun gear shaft, after which the planet gears are brought into their precise operating positions relative to the sun gears and perpendicular to the sun gear shaft and are stopped there with the maintenance of an equal tooth flank play to the sun gears, by first inserting the planetary shaft into the transverse bore of the sun gear shaft in an axially displaceable manner, then placing each planetary gear on its planetary gear shaft with a previously calculated axial distance from the sun gear shaft, and then adjusting an equal tooth flank play by axial displacement of the planetary gears with their planetary gear shafts in the transverse bore and finally fixing planetary gear shafts definitively in the transverse bore.

Bevel gear differential drives and methods for adjusting their tooth

A coupling is provided in which a coupling member and coupling sleeve of a rotary coupling for coupling a drive transmission to a rolling mill stand input shaft have mating taper threads which provide torsional rigidity and facilitate quick engagement and release. Engagement and release are effected by slowly turning the coupling half by means of the drive transmission while a brake device engages dogs on the coupling half to prevent the latter rotating. The coupling sleeve is flexibly attached to the flange by sheet metal laminate compensating elements but mobility of the sleeve is restricted by a support element on a shaft extension.

A transmission for driving a stretch-reducing rolling mill is provided having a spur-wheel differential arranged in a spur-wheel support sleeve forming part of an auxiliary speed transmission train in a transmission for driving the rolls of a multi-stand stretch-reducing rolling mill, a spur-wheel support sleeve forming part of a basic speed transmission train is connected by way of a safety coupling having shear pins to the sun wheel of the differential transmission stage and the speed of the output shaft which forms the plantary carrier of the transmission stage is thus formed from the basic and auxiliary speeds.

Transmission for driving a stretch-reducing rolling mill

A winding apparatus is provided for the layering of thin elongated material, especially hot-rolled wire in loop-like windings, in which a doubly or spatially curved laying tube whose longitudinal axis forms a cone-shaped rotation body and whose peripheral speed at the outlet opening matches the entrance speed of the material rotates around a rotation axis, in which case the laying tube is also curved in the peripheral direction of the superficies of the rotation body, the improvement comprising the superficides of the rotation body being curved in an essentially concave manner in accordance with a cycloid beginning at the entrance opening of the laying tube with its vertex, the length of the cycloid resulting from a half-rotation of a rolling circle generated from top to bottom of said rotation body, and that the curvature of the laying tube in the peripheral direction of the superficies is specified by a simultaneously occurring substantially half-rotation of said rotation body around its rotation axis.
