An electrical switching device for medium or high voltage circuits having at least a nominal contact arrangement, wherein the nominal contact arrangement includes at least a first nominal contact including a plurality of contact fingers forming a finger cage concentric with respect to a longitudinal axis, wherein the contact fingers are separated from one another by empty slots extending up to a free end of the contact fingers. The empty slots include first and second empty slots, wherein the second empty slots are shorter than the first empty slots, and wherein the contact fingers are grouped in groups, with the contact fingers of each group being separated by second empty slots and the contact fingers of adjacent groups being separated by first empty slots.

Electrical medium or high voltage switching device

A contact arrangement has a longitudinal axis and includes a first contact group with a first contact and a second contact and a second contact group with a third contact and a fourth contact. The first contact interacts electrically and mechanically with the third contact, and/or the second contact interacts electrically and mechanically with the fourth contact, for closing and opening the contact arrangement. At least one mechanical coupling is provided for transmitting an actuation force to the second contact group and thereby moving the second contact group. The at least one mechanical coupling is adapted to move the third and the fourth contact in such a way that their speeds differ along at least a portion of a travel path of the third contact or along at least a portion of a travel path of the fourth contact.

Electrical switching device with a triple motion contact arrangement

A circuit breaker comprises a puffer volume () and at least one overpressure valve () for discharging gas from the puffer volume (), if the pressure therein exceeds a given threshold. The overpressure valve () is formed by a piston () and a spring () as well as by a cavity () in the stationary support body () of the moveable contact assembly (). The overpressure valve () is of compact and simple design, has low hysteresis and large cross-section.

An exemplary circuit breaker has in an enclosure filled with an insulating gas at least one interrupting chamber extending along a longitudinal axis. The interrupting chamber can be configured radially symmetrically and contains an arcing volume and at least two associated arcing contacts. The arcing volume is actively connected to at least one exhaust having an exhaust volume. The exhaust is constructed for cooling hot gases generated during breaking operations and is connected to a volume of the interrupting chamber. The breaking capacity of this circuit breaker can be increased significantly and the exhaust can be constructed in a comparatively simple and cost effective manner. This can be achieved by providing in the area of the exhaust at least one forcibly created recirculation area which increases the flow resistance of the hot gases.
