A rotary coupling for two different fluids. The coupling includes a fixed housing and hollow shaft mounted rotatably but axially immovably in the housing. The shaft is provided with a central through-flow channel for a first fluid and at least one second through-flow channel parallel thereto for a second fluid. In the housing there are provided two separate supply channels for the two fluids and two sliding ring sealing devices between these channels and the hollow shaft, arranged coaxially with an axis of rotation of the hollow shaft, through which sealing devices the fluids can be fed separately to the through-flow channels. The first sliding ring sealing device is arranged centrally between an inner end of the hollow shaft and a housing part with the first supply channel, while the second sliding ring sealing device surrounds the hollow shaft concentrically and includes a sliding ring rotatable with the hollow shaft and has at least one radial through passage, as well as two sliding rings bearing constantly under spring pressure on its two axially facing end faces. The second sliding ring sealing device is axially movable relative to the housing and the hollow shaft. The rotatable sliding ring is fixed to an inner bush coaxially surrounding the hollow shaft, which inner bush is adapted to be coupled and uncoupled from the hollow shaft in response to an axial sliding movement of the inner bush.

Rotary coupling for two different fluids

A tool changer comprises a support (7) movable parallel to the axis (A or B) of a tool holder, a pivoting head (8) which pivots on the support (7) about an axis of rotation (D), and two gripper arms (9, 10) arranged on the head (8) substantially radially with respect to the axis of rotation, their free ends each carrying a gripper (11). The free ends of the gripper arms (9, 10) are so inclined relative to the axis of rotation (D) that the two tool axes (W1, W2) of the tools (5, 6) engaged by the grippers (11) and the axis of rotation (D) intersect in a single point (P), and so that the tool axes (W1, W2) of the tools (5, 6) engaged by the grippers (11) diverge from the axis of rotation (D) towards their holding ends (5a, 6a). Each of the tool axes (W1, W2) includes an acute angle (.alpha.) of about 10.degree. to 30.degree. with the axis of rotation (D). The axis of rotation (D) is so arranged in the support (7) that it intersects the axis (A or B) of the tool holder (4) during the change and includes an angle (.alpha.) with this axis which corresponds to the acute angle (.alpha.).

Tool changer

The tool holder of modular construction of driven tools for use on lathes consists at least of one base holder and various tool heads connectable interchangeably therewith. The base holder has a fixing shank, an attachment flange connected thereto, as well as a drive shaft rotatably mounted therein. Each tool head has at least one rotatable tool receptacle in a housing and a drivable shaft connected thereto. On the mutually facing ends of the drive shaft and the driven shaft there are provided coupling parts which can couple without relative rotation therebetween. The driven shaft is provided on the input side with a support pin freely projecting beyond the associated coupling part. The drive shaft is provided in the region of the attachment flange with a coaxial support bore, into which is received the support pin of the tool head.

Tool holder of modular construction for driven tools

A clamping device for gripping a tool in a carrier. The clamping device has a hollow centering extension or spigot and an abutment surface surrounding it are provided on the tool. A tool receptacle provided in the carrier has a receiving bore matched to the centering extension and an end face surrounding the bore and against which the abutment surface can be pressed by a clamping arrangement. The clamping arrangement comprises a clamping sleeve movable coaxially with respect to the central axis and a clamping ring or collet movable in the opposite direction to the clamping sleeve, both of which are provided with clamping cones facing towards one another. The collet is movable axially on the clamping sleeve by means of a clamping nut screwable on the sleeve. A plurality of clamping jaws surround the clamping sleeve and the collet concentrically and are supported in each case by one end against their clamping cones. The clamping jaws have at their two ends clamping surfaces which cooperate with a conical surface of the tool receptacle and with a conical surface oppositely directed with respect to that conical surface in the centering extension.

Clamping device for gripping a tool in a tool carrier

An actuating arrangement for a tool clamping device (1) has a clamping bar (3) which is axially displaceable in a clamping direction in a machine tool spindle (2) under the effect of a spring arrangement (11), and a wedge transmission assembly (9) which is operable between the spindle and the clamping bar, with freely movable balls which bear respectively against three cone surfaces of which the first is provided on a clamping sleeve (10) which is axially displaceable in the clamping direction on the clamping bar under the force of the spring arrangement (11), the second is provided on a clamping ring (12) connected to the clamping bar (3) and the third is provided on a support ring (13) which is arrangd stationarily with respect to the spindle. Provided on the support ring is a fourth cone surface (18) which is inclined relative to the axis of the clamping bar in opposite relationship to the third cone surface. A piston-cylinder unit (7, 8) is releasably connected to a release ring (20) provided in the region of the balls (14), by way of a locking means which acts in dependence on travel movement.

Actuating arrangement for a clamping device in a machine tool spindle

The rotating union for two different fluids comprises a hollow shaft (2) mounted rotatably in a stationary housing (1), with two separate axial throughflow channels (4, 5). A slide ring packing assembly is provided between the hollow shaft (2) and two separate inlet channels (9, 17) provided in the housing (1) for the two fluids. This includes a common slide ring (8) which is connected at its face to the hollow shaft (2) and comprises a central bore (8a) and several axial passages (8b) arranged concentrically thereto, and in the housing (1) a central slide ring (11) and a slide ring (14) concentrically surrounding the latter. The concentric slide ring (14) comprises several axial passages (14a) which are arranged in a circle concentric to the axis of rotation (A) and connected to the inlet channel (17) for the second fluid. Between the outer circumference of the central slide ring (11) and the inner circumference of the concentric slide ring (14) is provided an annular chamber (18) extending as far as the sliding surface (8c) of the common slide ring (8) and communicating with an inlet channel (23) provided in the housing and an outlet channel (24).

The actuating arrangement for a tool clamping device (1) has a clamping bar (3) which is axially displaceable in a clamping direction in a machine tool spindle (2) under the effect of a spring arrangement (11) and a firsst wedge transmission assembly (9) which is operable between the spindle and the clamping bar, with freely movable balls which bear respectively against three cone surfaces. They are disposed on a clamping sleeve (13) which is axially displaceable on the clamping bar, on a clamping ring (14) connected to the clamping bar (3), and on a support ring (15) which is arranged stationarily with respect to the spindle. The spring arrangement (11) acts by way of a pressure sleeve (12) which is axially displaceable on the clamping bar. Disposed between the pressure sleeve (12) and the clamping sleeve (13) is a second wedge transmission assembly (10) with freely movable balls which respectively bear against two cone surfaces which are inclined in mutually opposite relationship on the mutually facing ends of the two sleeves (12, 13) and successively against two further cone surfaces which are inclined in opposite relationship on the support ring (15). In the release stroke movement in opposite relationship to the clamping direction a piston-cylinder unit (7, 8) initially acts on the clamping sleeve (13) and then also on an annular shoulder (3a) of the clamping bar (FIG. 1).

In a chuck for axially clamping two machine parts which are releasable from each other, on the first machine part (1) are provided a hollow centring attachment (3), a contact face (6) surrounding the attachment, and an annular groove (8) formed on the inside of the attachment (3) and comprising a groove flank (9) tapering conically towards the free end of the attachment. The second machine part (2) comprises a holding bore (4) which is adapted to the attachment (3) and which is surrounded by an end face (7) against which the contact face (6) can be pressed. In the second machine part are provided several clamping jaws (10) which are each supported by a first end (10a) against a groove flank (12) in the second machine part (2). Arranged radially within the clamping jaws (10) and axially movably is a clamping sleeve (15) which comprises in the region of each end (10a, 10b) of the clamping jaws ( 10) a clamping cone (17, 18) by means of which the clamping jaws (10) are movable radially outwards parallel to themselves and their ends (10a, 10b) can be pressed against the associated groove flanks (9, 12). The clamping jaws (10) comprise at both their ends (10a10b) clamping surfaces (11, 14) whose angular position relative to the central axis (A) is adapted to the groove flanks (9, 12), so that during the whole clamping process there is surface contact between the clamping surfaces (b 11,14) and the groove flanks (9, 12).

For the attachment of a tool provided with a cylindrical or frusto-conical shank to a rotating machine spindle at one end of the machine spindle a complementary reception opening for the shank is provided. The shank contains a coaxial bore and a plurality of slots distributed in the circumferential direction and extending through radially to the bore, which divide the shank within the reception opening into segments. In the region of the slots the shank widens out under the influence of centrifugal forces more than does the region of the spindle surrounding the shank. Thus the radial guidance of the tool is not lost even at very high rotation rates of 10,000 r.p.m. and above. A support shoulder on an annular collar of the tool prevents axial reshifting of the shank by reason of the axial stress of a clamping device and improves the rigidity of the tool-spindle connection. The bore extends through the annular collar. The external diameter of the annular collar is preferably made larger than according to standard. The end face of the spindle, intended to abut on the support shoulder, is radially inwardly provided with an annular recess and supports the tool on a maximum possible diameter. In addition a shape-engaging coupling can be provided between tool and spindle.

Tool coupling

A thread spooler includes a plurality of spool units, each of which includes a thread defect sensor of a defect classification device which reacts to defects of the thread to be wound up. A large number of sets of predetermined operational parameters of the spool units and/or the defect classification devices can be recorded by a central input device into a central memory which stores all these data simultaneously. Each of the spool units includes a decentralized memory, into which one of the centrally stored operational parameter sets can be loaded individually for each spool unit by a call-up switch. A central control determines for respective groups of spool units a predetermined sequence, in which the operational parameter sets can be called up by the spool units. The classification device determines the thread defect, preferably individually for each spool unit, and indeed respectively referred onto the last wound gauged length of the thread. The winding device of the spool unit is operated with the maximum possible rpm. The rpm is reduced if a predetermined maximum thread speed is reached.
