A method for monitoring the functioning of a control unit for the activation of output stages, for example, in a motor vehicle, is provided. The control unit includes a main computing element having at least one microprocessor, and at least one auxiliary computing element having at least one microprocessor. The main computing element and the at least one auxiliary computing element may access a common memory element. The present system enables monitoring of the control unit that is as simple as possible but is nonetheless secure and reliable, by providing that during normal operation of the control unit, the content of a specifiable memory location of the memory element be queried by at least one of the auxiliary computing elements at presettable times, given a functioning main computing element, the content having previously been written with a presettable value by the same.

Method for monitoring the functioning of a control unit

A method for detecting combustion misses in a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine. The control units of the engine use an engine control program which is interrupted by interrupt routines, in phase-synchronism with the rotational movement of the crankshaft, in which at least the data required for injection and firing are processed. The detection of combustion misses includes establishing and evaluating crankshaft segment times in which the crankshaft covers an associated circle-segment angle range. The crankshaft segment are also established and evaluated in particular interrupt routines, and for the further subset of cylinders in the interrupt routines in which their firing is controlled. Furthermore, the crankshaft segment times for the first cylinder is established and evaluated in certain additionally generated interrupt routines.

Method for detecting misfiring in a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine

A method and a device for controlling operational sequences, particularly in a vehicle, at least one sensor having a connection unit being connected via a bus system to at least one control unit for controlling the operational sequences, the control unit likewise having a connection unit, and sensor information being transmitted to the control unit. The control unit reads in and/or processes the sensor information at specifiable synchronization points. A trigger signal is transmitted by the control unit via the bus system to the sensor in such a way with an allowance that the sensor information is available in a manner that it is able to be read in and/or processed exactly at the synchronization point for the control unit.

Method and device for controlling operational sequences

In a cylinder-selective injection system for an internal combustion engine, there are cylinder-selective injection suppressions. Subsequent to the suppressions, restoring added quantities specific to an individual cylinder are generated, whose initial value is dependent upon the number of suppressed injections for the cylinder in question, and whose notching-down to zero is dependent upon the number of injections of the cylinder that have taken place after completion of the suppression.
