A method and an apparatus operate a tank system including a tank system of a motor vehicle. The tank system includes a tank for receiving a fluid medium forming a volatile substance and an adsorption filter connected to the tank for receiving the volatile substance which emanates from the tank. A shutoff valve is connected to the adsorption filter and is drivable between an open position and a closed position whereat the tank system is closed off to the ambient. A tank fill-level sensor detects the fill level of the fluid medium in the tank. A fill pipe is connected to the tank for filling with the fluid medium. The fill level is detected while tanking and the shutoff valve is driven into the closed position when the fill level has reached a maximum fill level.

Method and arrangement for obtaining a low-emission tanking operation of a tank system including a tank system of a motor vehicle

A control unit ( ) makes a single control signal available for driving the through-flow control valves (TEV , TEV ) ( ). Through-flow valve (TEV ) has a larger maximum through flow than through-flow control valve (TEV ). A delay circuit is indicated by the phantom outline ( &prime;) and is mounted at the valve stage TEV2 ( ). The delay circuit includes an electric delay element ( ) with the aid of which the original control signal is delayed in time by an amount &Dgr;t relative to the control signal of control valve (TEV ). The resulting delayed signal is supplied to an AND-gate ( ) together with the original control signal. Accordingly, a control signal is present at the output of the AND-gate for the control valve (TEV ). The time delay makes possible the exclusive activation of the through-flow control valve (TEV ) ( ) at low pulse duty factors. In this way, a high small quantity meterability is achieved. Starting at a specific pregivable switch-in time, the control valve (TEV ) ( ) is switched in so that a very large through flow is possible. The invention thereby makes possible excellent meterability at low as well as at high through flows.

The invention relates to a flat tubular damper for damping fluid pressure pulsations in fluid lines, in particular fuel pressure pulsations in fuel supply lines of motor vehicles, having at least one elongated chamber whose cross section is small in comparison to its longitudinal span and at least a part of whose chamber wall, being operationally connected with the fluid, can be elastically deformed by the fluid pressure pulsations. The invention provides that the cross section of the chamber changes continuously or discretely along its longitudinal span.

A fuel supply system of an internal combustion engine that has fuel injection is described. The fuel supply system has a fuel rail, from which injectors are supplied with fuel via valve seats. The damper element has an elastic tubular body arranged in the fuel rail. The tubular body sealingly separating an inner fuel chamber, through which fuel flows, from an outer fuel chamber, through which fuel flows and which is connected to the valve seats. Walls of the tubular body are made of an elastic material. The elastic tubular body is arranged upstream of a pressure regulator.

A fuel rail assembly comprising a fuel rail and a damper assembly in the fuel rail. The damper assembly includes a damper having an end and an inner surface defining a cavity, and a sealing member at least partially received in the end and bonded to the inner surface to substantially seal the cavity. The sealing member is preferably a metal wire that includes a sealing portion bonded to the inner surface to substantially seal the cavity. The bond is preferably formed by induction brazing, and the sealing member is coated with copper to facilitate the brazing. The invention also provides a fuel rail assembly comprising a fuel rail having a longitudinal axis and an inner wall. A damper assembly in the fuel rail includes a damper, and a spring locator coupled with the damper, the spring locator having two positioning portions outwardly biased to engage the inner wall of the fuel rail and position the damper assembly axially in the fuel rail. The spring locator is preferably a metal wire. Most preferably, the sealing member and the spring locator are the same device that both seals the damper and locates the damper assembly inside the fuel rail.

In a diagnosis module for leak testing a container of a tank ventilation system of a motor vehicle, which has a reference leak through which a volume flows and is matched to a permissible leakage of the container. The reference leak is constituted by a number of diaphragms disposed in series in the flow direction, in which each of the diaphragms have a throttle opening (,). The advantage of this diagnosis module lies in the large diameter throttle openings, which are less susceptible to malfunction when there is a permitted leakage hole that has a significantly smaller diameter.
