An apparatus is described for needling a non-woven material () with at least one needleboard () which is drivable in a reciprocating manner in the needle-penetration direction and with a stitch base which is opposite of the needleboard () and is made of a continuously revolving brush belt () forming a conveyor for the non-woven material (). In order to provide advantageous constructional conditions it is proposed that the needleboard () comprises rows of needles which have an even distance of the rows and extend in at least in one section in the revolving direction () of the brush belt (), and that the brush belt () and the needleboard () can be moved back and forth in a reciprocating manner by means of a traversing drive () during the conveyance of the non-woven material transversally to the revolving direction () of the brush belt () to an extent corresponding to the distance of the needle rows relative to each other or an integral multiple thereof.

Apparatus for needling a non-woven material

The description relates to a facility for needling of fleece with at least one needle board driven to and fro in stitching direction, which can be additionally driven in pendulum fashion in fleece feed direction ( ) by means of an eccentric drive, which is provided with a connecting rod ( ) articulated to a rocker arm ( ) and a connecting pitman ( ) to the needle board effective on this connecting rod assembly. To be able to easily adjust the rocking amplitude of the needle board in fleece feed direction ( ) it is suggested that the swivel bearing ( ) of the rocker arm ( ) is seated on a rotatable crank arm ( ) and that, for adjustment of the rocking amplitude of the connecting pitman ( ), the neutral rocking position of the rocker arm ( ) is adjustable via the crank arm ( ) between an end position essentially running in the direction of the connecting pitman ( ) and an end position running transverse thereto.

Facility for needling of fleece

There is described an apparatus for bundling a drafted roving (4), comprising a rotating conveying surface (3) provided with air through-holes (6) succeeding each other in direction of rotation (9), and comprising a suction means connected to the conveying surface (3) on the side facing away from the roving (4) in the vicinity of the air through-holes (6), which suction means forms a slot-like suction zone (5) for the roving (4) extending in direction of rotation (9) of the conveying surface (3). To create advantageous constructional conditions, it is proposed that the suction zone (5) should have at least one suction slot tapering in direction of rotation (9) of the conveying surface (3) from at least two rows of holes to one row of holes.

Method for producing a yarn

Apparatus for making a yarn comprises two juxtaposed, closely spaced apart twisting drums, which rotate in the same sense about parallel axes and at least one of which has a suction zone, which faces the generally triangular twisting space defined by said twisting drums between them. A fiber-guiding passage extends into said generally triangular twisting space at an oblique angle to the axes of said twisting drums and has an outlet opening, which extends along said axes and serves to supply fibers which are to be twisted together to form a yarn. In order to increase the strength of the yarn, each suction zone is enlarged in width adjacent to one end of the outlet opening of the fiber-guiding passage.

Apparatus for making a yarn

Apparatus for making a yarn comprises two juxtaposed, closely spaced apart suction drums, which rotate in the same sense, and a fiber-guiding duct, which protrudes into the triangular space between the suction drums and serves to supply single fibers. In order to ensure a uniform tying of the single fibers into the yarn as it is formed, the length of the outlet opening of the fiber-guiding duct exceeds the average length of the longest fibers to be processed. Besides, the distance from the outlet opening of the fiber-guiding duct to the common diametral plane of the suction drums is such that the arc length of the periphery of each suction drum from the point which is nearest to said outlet opening to said common diametral plane is not in excess of 0.5 radians.

A yarn joined to a previously spun yarn is spun in friction spinning apparatus which comprises two juxtaposed, closely spaced apart twisting members, which define a triangular space, from which air is sucked. Singled stable fibers supplied to said triangular space are twisted together by said twisting members to form a yarn, which is withdrawn by a withdrawing device. A joint-forming portion of a previously spun yarn is provided in said triangular space in the region in which said fibers are supplied to said space, and said yarn is withdrawn while fibers are supplied to said triangular space so as to contact said joint-forming portion. To provide said previously spun yarn with a joint-forming portion which can satisfactorily be joined to the fibers for the newly spun yarn, the previously spun yarn which has been introduced into the triangular space is untwisted between the twisting members in a portion which is spaced from the rear end of said yarn and the latter is tensioned to detach a rear end portion of said yarn from the untwisted portion of the yarn and is removed from the triangular space before or during the supply of fibers to the triangular space.

Process and apparatus for spinning a staple fiber joined to a previously

Apparatus for making a yarn comprises two juxtaposed, closely spaced apart suction drums, which are rotated in the same sense and each of which contains a suction insert, which is formed with a suction slot that faces the generally triangular space between the two suction drums. To permit the use of a lower suction flow rate and to ensure that this will not adversely affect the quality of the resulting yarn, each suction insert is mounted to be rotatable about the axis of the associated suction drum and positioning drive means are provided, which serve to rotate the suction inserts in mutually opposite senses and comprise two worm wheels, which are secured to respective stub shafts, which protrude axially from the suction drums and are secured to respective ones of the suction inserts, and two worm-carrying shafts, which are in mesh with respective ones of said worm wheels.

A composite yarn is spun in a tapering gap between two suction drums which define suction zones adjoining the gap and facing each other. A yarn core is supplied to the gap between the facing suction zones from a bobbin at one end of the gap and flying fibers are supplied into the gap between the facing suction zones. Yarn drawoff rolls at the opposite end of the gap withdraw spun yarn while holding it against rotation, the flying fibers being twisted and wound around the yarn core in the gap between the facing suction zones to be spun into the composite yarn when the drums are rotated in the same sense.
