An electrical connector is used in combination with an electrical circuit board having an active element and formed with a row of throughgoing contact holes and a multiconductor cable having a plurality of wires each having a core conductor. The connector has a dielectric body formed with a row of parallel and outwardly open contact seats, a row of parallel and outwardly open wire seats aligned with and extending transversely across the contact seats, and an outwardly open pocket traversed by the contact seats and dimensioned to hold the circuit board with its holes aligned with the contact seats. Respective contacts in the contact seats each have a pointed tip engaged through the respective hole of the board in the seat and poking in the respective wire seat into the respective wire and into contact with the conductor thereof.

Cable-end connector with active circuit elements

A connector for electrically connecting a wire to a conductive strip on a face of a printed-circuit board has a dielectric housing formed with a cavity, with a slot extending from the cavity and adapted to receive an edge of the circuit board, and with a hole opening outward from the cavity and adapted to receive the wire. A conductive one-piece spring element in the cavity has a front arm extending at an angle at least partially across the slot and a rear arm extending across the hole, formed with an aperture alignable with the hole, and deflectable between a tensioned position with the aperture aligned with the hole and a rest position with the aperture offset from the hole. The wire is engageable through the aperture and hole in the tensioned position. Alternately the rear arm presses the wire directly against the conductive strip of the circuit board engaged in the slot.

Electrical connector for a printed-circuit board

A connector has a housing formed with a cavity, with a slot extending from the cavity, adapted to receive an edge of a circuit board, and having a width substantially greater than the circuit-board width, and with a hole opening outward from the cavity and adapted to receive the wire. A conductive rocker in the cavity has a front arm extending out of the cavity through the slot, a rear arm in the cavity adjacent the hole, and a central pivot bump between the ends of the rocker. A spring in the cavity engaging the pivot pin presses the rocker laterally across the slot with the rocker front arm bearing on the strip of the board received in the slot and presses the wire received in the hole against the rocker rear arm.

An electrical connector assembly has a rigid body having an outwardly directed face and formed with a plurality of pockets opening at the face, respective electrical contacts fixed in the pockets of the body, and a cover formed of a flexible elastomeric plastic completely surrounding the body except at the pockets. This cover is formed unitarily with an annular skirt projecting outward past the face and with a web bridging the skirt except at the pockets and lying against the face of the body.

Plug assembly for solenoid valve

An electrical connector assembly has a threaded part having a conductor, an unthreaded part having a conductor, fittable along an axis with the threaded part for engagement of the conductors with each other, and formed with front and back axially spaced stops, and an internally threaded nut axially displaceable on the unthreaded part between the stops through a predetermined axial distance, rotatable about the axis on the unthreaded part, and threadedly engageable with the threaded part to lock the parts axially together with the nut engaging the front stop. The nut is formed with at least one axially extending and radially projecting tooth, the unthreaded part is formed with at least one axially extending and radially projecting tooth, and the teeth are so positioned that they come into engagement with each other only during a small fraction of the displacement of the nut on the unthreaded part immediately prior to engagement with the front stop.

Screw-on electrical connector assembly

A plug-in proximity switch has a tubular housing having a hollow interior and an open end, a circuit board in the housing interior having an edge adjacent the end and a face provided adjacent the edge with a plurality of circuit paths, a socket fittable with the open housing end, a socket body in the socket adjacent the board edge, and a plurality of connector elements fixed in and projecting inward from the body and directly engaging the circuit paths of the board. The board is rigidly held in the housing by a mass of hard potting compound filling the housing interior around the board at least at the edge thereof.

Plug-in proximity switch

A plug member for a connector of the type in which the plug member is inserted into a coupler at an angle and then swung into its end position, has a sleeve portion guiding the cable as it is inserted so that the conductors of the cable pass into channels of a portion of the plug formed with windows through which the conductors are exposed and can be engaged by contacts of the coupler passing into these windows.

An electrical terminal strip comprises an insulating body having a plurality of connector compartments, a corresponding number of clamp members constructed as compartment liners each having a clamp passage in which an electrical conductor is insertable and a threaded hole for receiving a clamp screw. Each of the clamp members is provided with a clamp bracket having both a conductor engaging element and at least one solder connector pin. The clamp member is insertable through its solder connector end into the connector compartments of the insulating body where it is held undetachably, while the clamp bracket is subsequently inserted through a lateral opening in the insulating body in a direction opposite to the direction the conductor is inserted so that the conductor engaging element is in the clamp space. No other components or assembly steps are required to unite the conductor clamp member and clamp bracket in the insulating body, but a base plate may or may not be a part of the electrical strip. When a base plate is employed however, it can advantageously interlock with the clamp bracket so as to be held in place and to assist in keeping the clamp bracket in position.

Terminal strip connector block

A connector strip comprises a row of swivel members each of which has a swivel portion held on a housing by a contact band provided with a keyhole window through which a conductor can be inserted through a guide passage into a hole within the pivot portion so that rotation of the swivel member entrains the conductor into the cutting slot of the window to make electrical contact and to mechanically enter the conductor to the contact.

Electrical connector strip

A mount secures a high-wattage miniature relay having a plurality of high-amp connection prongs and of control-voltage connection prongs to high-amp wires and to a circuit board. The mount has a dielectric body constructed to fit on the board and formed with respective seats for the prongs, and respective high-amp passages each having an outer end opening outward and an inner end opening at the seat for the respective high-amp prong. Respective low-amp conductors extend from the seats of the control-voltage prongs and engage in the board. Respective metallic high-amp conductors extend in the passages and have inner ends constituted as sockets for the respective high-amp prongs and outer ends constituted as connectors for the respective high-amp wires. The high-amp conductors are unitary with the respective sockets. In addition they can be unitary with the respective connectors. The connectors can be wire clips provided, like the connectors on circuit breakers, with respective wire-clamping screws.
