In an exhaust gas turbocharger for a reciprocating internal combustion engine comprising an exhaust gas turbine in the exhaust line and a compressor in the inlet line of the engine, the exhaust gas turbine has two exhaust gas flow passages, by way of which exhaust gas is fed to the turbine rotor, the ratio of the turbine rotor diameter to the compressor wheel diameter being set by a function, which is dependent on the displacement volume of the internal combustion engine.

In an internal combustion engine having an exhaust gas turbocharger with an exhaust gas inlet structure including two exhaust gas flow passages in communication with two exhaust ducts via a rotary cylinder valve for controlling the exhaust gas flow, the valve includes two inlet openings for directing the flow to the inlet flow passages of the turbine and a recess which when disposed over the exhaust gas flow passages permits exhaust gas to flow from one to the other of the exhaust gas ducts, the interior of the valve being in communication with a bypass line for bypassing the turbine.

An exhaust gas turbocharger for an internal combustion engine has an exhaust gas turbine in the exhaust gas train and a compressor in the intake tract, whereby an adjustable throttle device is provided upstream from the compressor wheel, for regulating the air mass stream to be supplied. The throttle device comprises a first guide grid and a second guide grid in the inflow region to the compressor wheel. Each guide grid possesses an adjustable grid geometry.

Internal combustion engine including a compressor and method for operating an internal combustion engine

An exhaust gas turbocharger for an internal combustion engine comprises a turbine in the exhaust line and a compressor, which is driven by the turbine and which is located inside the intake tract of the internal combustion engine. The turbine comprises a flow duct having a radial flow entrance cross-section, and a flow ring is provided that delimits the flow entrance cross-section. An adjustable vane is placed in the radial flow entrance cross-section for variably adjusting this flow entrance cross-section. The flow ring inside the housing of the exhaust gas turbine can be axially displaced between a contact position toward the vane and a position that frees a gap toward the vane.

An exhaust-gas turbocharger in an internal combustion engine having a compressor in the induction tract and an exhaust-gas turbine in the exhaust-gas line wherein the exhaust-gas turbine has at least two spiral ducts which in each case open into a radial flow inlet passage. Arranged in the radial flow inlet passage is a guide cascade ring which is disposed between two axially delimiting walls. One of the walls is designed to be axially displaceable and adapted to accommodate the vanes of the guide cascade ring. The wall is displaceable axially outward to such an extent that the vanes of the radial guide cascade ring are no longer in contact with the wall and there is a direct, unobstructed flow path to an outflow duct in the exhaust-gas turbine.

Exhaust-gas turbocharger for an internal combustion engine

In an exhaust gas turbocharger including a compressor wheel, the compressor wheel is cooled by at least one nozzle which is arranged in close axial proximity to the axis of rotation of the compressor wheel for spraying the backside of the compressor wheel near the center thereof with coolant whereby the coolant, utilizing the centrifugal forces of the rotating compressor wheel, is completely distributed over the entire wheel back surfaces.

In a variable exhaust gas turbocharger for an internal combustion engine including an exhaust gas turbocharger to which exhaust gas is supplied from the engine to provide a torque for driving the turbocharger, an additional device is provided which includes an electrical or mechanical drive for supplying an additional torque to the exhaust gas turbocharger in order to maintain the exhaust gas turbocharger at a certain speed at which it is capable of generating a desired inlet air pressure for the charge air supplied to the internal combustion engine.

An exhaust gas turbocharger for an internal combustion engine, which has an exhaust gas turbine in the exhaust system and a compressor in the induction system, comprises a variable turbine geometry, associated with the turbine, for adjustably setting a radial inlet cross section for the flow to the turbine rotor. The variable turbine geometry is configured as a guide cascade ring, which has guide vanes distributed over the periphery and encompasses the turbine rotor. The minimum distance between two adjacent guide vanes obeys a specified relationship with respect to the diameter of the turbine rotor and the number of guide vanes of the guide cascade ring. In addition, a flow edge is provided on the radially inner surface of each guide vane.

An exhaust-gas turbocharger for an internal combustion engine has a turbine in the exhaust-gas tract and a compressor, driven by the turbine, in the intake tract, the turbine having a flow channel with a radial flow-inlet cross-section and a semi-axial flow-inlet cross-section, and a flow ring being provided which limits the two flow-inlet cross-sections. The turbine is furnished with variable turbine geometry for the changeable adjustment of the flow-inlet cross-section. To improve efficiency, the position of the flow ring in the housing of the exhaust-gas turbocharger is variably adjustable.

A compressor in a turbocharger has a compressor impeller in an inflow passage and an outflow region downstream of the compressor-impeller outlet edge. The outflow region is assigned a connecting passage, a stabilizing chamber and an outflow passage, the connecting passage being arranged with a lateral offset with respect to a longitudinal center axis of the stabilizing chamber.

In an air compressor, particularly for an internal combustion engine, which has a compressor housing with a flow duct structure and a recirculation arrangement including a bypass structure for recirculation some of the air entering the compressor wheel, a recirculating ring is arranged in the bypass flow structure around the compressor wheel and the ring has a plurality of flow passages distributed uniformly around its circumference with inflow orifices at the radial inner end in communication with the compressor flow duct and outflow orifice at the radial outer end in communication with a by-pass flow space.

Compressor, in particular for an internal combustion engine

In an internal combustion engine including an exhaust turbocharger and an exhaust-gas recirculation device, with an exhaust turbine and a compressor, the exhaust turbine has a plurality of inlet flow passages to which exhaust gas can be supplied via separate exhaust lines connected to some of the cylinders of the internal combustion engine. In total, three flow passages are provided in the exhaust turbine, of which two communicate with the exhaust-gas recirculation device, and one of these flow passages includes an adjustable throttling member for regulating the mass flow of exhaust gas to be recirculated.

To provide for variable adjustment of the effective flow cross-section of the transfer duct, a transfer ring is provided which comprises two component rings, which are rotatable relative to one another.
