A method for computer-aided sheet running control in a sheet-fed printing machine includes, during a printing operation, using a measuring sensor to detect a printed sheet in the printing machine and using an activation sensor to initiate measuring performed by the measuring sensor by emitting an activation signal. The activation sensor is mechanically fixedly installed without adjustment, and temporal deviations of the activation signal are determined and compensated. A system for computer-aided sheet running control in a sheet-fed printing machine is also provided.

An apparatus for conveying sheets through a printing machine allows continuous monitoring of the position of a sheet with regard to a guide element over a long time period. There is provided a circulating conveyor element with grippers in which the sheet is held at a leading edge. A device for setting the position of the sheet can adjust the position with regard to a desired position. A measuring configuration measures the position and the presence of the sheet. A control device is connected to the device for setting the position and to the measuring configuration. The measuring configuration is mounted so as to circulate with the conveyor element.

A novel damping control method permits improved reliability and higher accuracy when registering scumming during printing with an offset press. Signals are obtained by at least one sensor aimed at a revolving printing form cylinder. The signals are processed in a control device, actuating signals for a dampening solution metering device are produced, and the dampening solution is metered in accordance with the actuating signals by a dampening solution applicator roll in rolling contact with the surface of the printing form. The sensor provides a signal which reproduces an actual value of a width of an ink stripe that is induced by the process and located in the circumferential direction of the printing form cylinder. The stripe is formed in the printing image-free region of the printing form immediately after the trailing edge of the channel accommodating the edges of the printing form.

Method for metering dampening solution when printing with an offset press

The position of sheets in a printing press is measured. A problem in transporting sheets through the printing press is how to guarantee the correct orientation and lay of the sheets, which must be guaranteed particularly in the printing operation. There is provided a device for precisely determining and correcting the positions of sheets in printing presses. Margin regions of a sheet are respectively imaged, projection data are transmitted to a computing unit, and the position of the sheet is calculated with the aid of the projection data by way of an image recognition algorithm. Furthermore, the computed positions of the sheet are compared to positions which are stored in the computing unit, and from the comparison, position deviations are computed, which are transmitted to the printing press and corrected by way of a sheet registration device.
