Systems and methods for increasing effective line density of volume compound ultrasound images while maintaining the frame rate, penetration depth, and other image characteristics are provided. The method includes acquiring a first lateral plane at a first elevational position. The first lateral plane includes a first set of receive lines at a first set of lateral positions. The method includes acquiring a second lateral plane at a second elevational position adjacent the first elevational position. The second lateral plane includes a second set of receive lines at a second set of lateral positions laterally offset from the first set of lateral positions. The method includes combining the first lateral plane and the second lateral plane to generate a compound image and presenting the compound image at a display system. The compound image may be a volume compound image in an A-plane generated based on volume compound imaging rendering algorithms.

A system and method for providing freehand render start line drawing tools and automatic render preset selections is provided. The method includes receiving a render start line drawn in freehand via a user input device on a 2D image of a profile of a structure of interest. The method includes analyzing pixel intensity values in a region of the render start line. The method includes automatically selecting one of a plurality of sets of render mode presets based on the pixel intensity values in the region of the render start line. Each of the plurality of sets of render mode presets is associated with a different rendering mode. Each of the rendering modes is associated with a different pixel intensity value range. The method includes generating a volume rendering according to the automatically selected set of render mode presets. The method includes presenting the volume rendering at a display system.

A method for generating an ultrasound image, comprising displaying a rendered image of a target from an edge of a full box encompassing the target. An input regarding a selection of a half box may be received from a user. When the half box is not selected, the rendered image may continue to be displayed. When the half box is selected, a new image may be rendered from a reference of the full box, and the rendered image may be displayed.

Various embodiments include a system and method that enhance the visualization of selected individual images from a real-time scan. The method can include acquiring ultrasound image data at an ultrasound system. The method may include processing the acquired ultrasound image data according to cine sequence processing parameters to generate a cine sequence. The cine sequence includes a plurality of frames, each of the frames having a first resolution. The method can include receiving a trigger. The method may include processing the acquired ultrasound image data according to still image processing parameters in response to the trigger to generate a still image. The still image has a second resolution that is higher than the first resolution.

Method and system for enhanced visualization of individual images in a real-time scan

An imaging system and method acquire first ultrasound image data of a body at a first acquisition quality level, display one or more two-dimensional images of the body using the image data at the first acquisition quality level, and create second ultrasound image data at a reduced, second acquisition quality level. The second ultrasound image data is created from the first ultrasound image data that was acquired at the first acquisition quality level. The system and method also display a rendered multi-dimensional image of the body using the second ultrasound image data at the reduced, second acquisition quality level.

Systems and methods are provided for adjusting a field of view of a medical imaging system, such as for an ultrasound imaging system. A system (e.g., an ultrasound imaging system) is provided herein that includes a matrix array probe. The matrix array probe includes a plurality of transducer elements arranged in an array with an elevation direction and an azimuth direction. The system includes a controller circuit that is configured to control the matrix array probe to acquire ultrasound data from a sector field of view (FOV) with a subset of the plurality of transducer elements. The sector FOV having a virtual apex. The controller circuit is further configured to shift the virtual apex and the corresponding sector FOV from a first sector FOV that has at least one ultrasound obstructed region to a second sector FOV that encompasses the ultrasound obstructed region.

Methods and systems for adjusting a field of view for medical imaging systems

Techniques for imaging adjusting a cine-loop are described herein. A cine-loop may be generated, and it may be identified whether the cine-loop has a stitching artifact. The cine-loop may be played, and the length of the cine-loop may be adjusted while the cine-loop is playing until the stitching artifact is substantially removed.

A method for assessing mechanical properties of an elastic material includes obtaining volumetric ultrasound data sets of the elastic material in two different states of compression. First ultrasound image data of a first hypersurface region of interest (ROI) is selected from a first of the data sets, and second ultrasound image data of a second hypersurface ROI is selected from a second of the data sets. The first ultrasound image data and the second ultrasound image data are compared to determine motion within the elastic material. If out of ROI motion of the elastic material is not less than a specified or predetermined amount and if an allowed number of iterations has not been met, the orientation of at least one ROI is changed and a portion of the process is iterated. Otherwise, an indication of motion resulting from the applied compression within the elastic material is displayed.

Method and apparatus for displaying an enhanced image based on an image plane of data. A volume data set is acquired, and a plane is defined on an image based on the volume data set. The plane may be a C-plane. Data within the volume data set which is defined by the plane is processed with an image enhancing technique and the resultant enhanced image is displayed.
