Stapling devices, which form staples from a staple wire transported from supply rolls, are arranged in a stapling apparatus. The supply rolls are associated with a threading-in device which is mounted displaceably on the stapling apparatus. Transport mechanisms as well as feed-in and guide mechanisms are associated with each supply roll. Flexible guide tubes connect the threading-in device to the respective stapling device. The threading-in device can be moved into a position pulled out of the stapling apparatus device, in which the supply rolls can easily be inserted. The leading end of the wire is pushed, in simple and conveniently visible fashion, between a transport roller pair by way of a guide element and a funnel-shaped feed-in tube. From there the leading end of the wire is pushed by manual drive through the flexible guide tube to a transport mechanism on the stapling device until, upon passing by a switch, the end of the manual threading-in operation, and the fact that the staple wire is ready for automatic continued transport, are indicated. The threading-in device is pushed into the stapling apparatus after completion of the threading-in operation.

A staple wire supply roll is positioned on a threading-in device that can be moved out of a stapling apparatus, and the leading end of the wire is transported by means of a thread-in transport device, through a flexible guide tube, to a stapling device. A sensor positioned on the stapling device signals the end of the threading-in operation when the leading end of the staple wire passes by. By pushing the threading-in device into the apparatus, the staple wire transport device of the stapling device is set in motion, as a result of which the leading end of the staple wire is transported to a location which positions the leading end of the wire in device. The staple wire is transported, in accordance with the thickness of the sheet stack measured by a sensor, by a stepping motor, which at the same time drives a radial cam unit. The radial cam unit moves a cutting device into a position in which the transported staple wire segment is positioned symmetrically with respect to a shaper and driver of the stapling device and cut, and then shaped into a staple and driven into the sheet stack.

Method and device for preparing, manipulating, and processing a staple

An apparatus (1) for depositing sheet products (39, 40) at an offset has a deposition tray (2) that can be rotated alternately by 180 degrees in opposite directions about a vertical axis (41), and is equipped with a vertically movable deposition table (34). Delimiters (19, 20), arranged symmetrically to the rotation axis (41) and parallel to one another, and extending transverse to transport direction A of the sheet products (39, 40), are provided above a top starting position of the deposition table (34). Associated with each of the delimiters (19 or 20) are pivotedly arranged holding elements (17, 33 or 18, 32), which can be placed on the sheet products (39, 40) deposited on the deposition table (34). The delimiters (19 or 20) and the associated holding elements (17, 33 or 18, 32) are each configured as horizontally displaceable assemblies (21, 22). The delimiters (19 and 20) are adjusted to a distance from the rotation axis (41) that is greater, with respect to the transport direction (A), that half the width of the sheet product (39, 40). During deposition of the sheet products (39, 40), which occurs at an acute angle (.alpha.) as far as the respective delimiter (19 or 20) serving as the stop, deposition at an offset to one another by an amount (x) in each case is achieved by the alternating 180-degree rotation of the deposition tray.
