In a method and apparatus for producing a composite component comprising a hollow profile and at least one injection-molded element, a hollow profile () is formed by means of internal high pressure fluid forming and is encapsulated with an injection molding material to form the injection-molded element. The hollow profile is expanded by means of internal high pressure in a closed combination tool comprising an internal high pressure forming tool element and an injection molding tool element, before it is encapsulated. The hollow profile is pressed on the tool engraving only locally in the region of the location to be encapsulated, keeping the outlet of the injection molding channel opening into the tool engraving clear.

Composite component and a method and device for producing the composite component

In a method and apparatus for producing a composite component, a tubular hollow section blank is placed into a die cavity of a combination tool comprising an inner high-pressure shaping tool and an injection-molding tool. The combination tool is filled with a fluid in such a way that the blank is wetted from the inside by the fluid, and the ends of the combination tool are sealed by two axial molding plugs. The filled blank is then expanded under pressure . The finished hollow section is plastic-coated in the same tool. The hollow section is emptied after shaping in the sealed state, at least until it is no longer dripping, the pressurized fluid being expelled under pressure from the hollow section through at least one discharge channel formed in the axial molding plugs.

Method and apparatus for producing a composite component

A process and apparatus for manufacturing slot-shaped openings on hollow sections is disclosed in which the openings are produced by a piercing cutting operation by means of a blade-type cutting tool by the displacement of material in a cutout-free manner. During the slotting operation, the hollow sections are supported from the inside around the openings to be formed. In order to produce slot-shaped openings in a simple manner while maintaining the shape of the hollow section on arbitrarily constructed hollow sections in a reliable process free of positional tolerances, the hollow section is inserted in a recess of an internal high pressure forming tool. The hollow section is slotted by the interaction of the cutting action of a cutting tool integrated in the internal high pressure forming tool and an internal high pressure generated inside the hollow section.

Process for manufacturing slot-shaped openings on hollow sections and apparatus for implementing same

The invention relates to a process and apparatus for manufacturing hollow sections with cross-sectional expansions in end portions thereof. A hollow blank is widened and calibrated by internal high pressure forming by means of a forming tool receiving it, and, after the calibration, is separated in the area of the widening while forming two hollow sections with cross-sectionally widened ends facing one another in the separated position. In order manufacture from a hollow blank hollow sections with the lowest possible reject rate and therefore in a reliable process, which are cross-sectionally widened on the end side by means of high degree for forming, the blank is widened while the forming tool is open and is simultaneously upset to form a rotationally symmetrical bulging hollow section by means of a pressure force which is axially directed from the outside to at least one of the two blank ends.

Process and device for manufacturing hollow sections with end-side

An exhaust manifold for an internal combustion engine includes an inner duct with flanges for connection to an engine. The inner duct is enclosed by an envelope consisting of two shells which are interconnected at their edges by seams. Between the inlet flanges, the seams are disposed at a substantially greater distance from the inner duct than in other areas such that, in a cross-sectional plane disposed between, and extending normal to, the flanges, the envelope has drop-like shape.
