A configuration for multiplexing and/or demultiplexing the signals of at least two optical wavelength channels, is described. Provided in this case is a grating device having an optical grating, a first optical free beam region and a second optical free beam region. Accordingly, radiation is coupled into and out of the first free beam region via a coupling device which effects a flattening and/or widening of the field distribution of the light coupled in or out, at least in the plane of the first free beam region. This permits a transmission characteristic of the configuration to be flattened.

Configuration for multiplexing and/or demultiplexing the signals of at least two optical wavelength channels

An optoelectronic laser module, in particular for dense wavelength division multiplex systems, is described. The laser module has a laser diode with an active region, an optical resonator containing a highly silvered reflecting surface and a Bragg interference grating which provides frequency-selective feedback, and a housing which accommodates the laser diode and has a holder for coupling an optical conductor. The Bragg interference grating is configured as a fiber Bragg grating in an optical conductor and the optical conductor is connected to the housing via the holder. As a result, it is possible with the use of standard components to provide a laser having an external resonator whose emission wavelength can be set in a simple way by suitable selection of the fiber Bragg grating.

Optoelectronic laser module

A configuration for spatially separating and/or joining at least two optical wavelength channels includes an optical phased array device which has a device for producing an attenuation function for a wavelength-dependent attenuation of the transmission function of at least one of the waveguides which is provided solely for a respective one of the channels and/or of the waveguide which is provided jointly for all the channels.

The coupling device comprises a displacement arrangement for displacing the two waveguide end surfaces relative to one another parallel to the end surfaces and the arrangement has an expansion element that moves the end surfaces relative to one another on the basis of a spatial expansion and/or contraction of the element. With this coupling device tunable optical multi-channel filters with temperature compensation, optical attenuators and waveguide switches can advantageously be realized in a simple manner.

A photodiode-FET combination having an optimized layer structure wherein the photodiode and the FET are separated from one another by a separating trench and are separated from the substrate by barrier layers forming a pn-junction in order to avoid tributary currents. A layer sequence is provided formed of an absorption layer grown on in surface-wide fashion, of a photodiode layer that is likewise grown on in surface-wide fashion and which is etched back to the region of light incidence in the region of the photodiode, of a channel layer in the region of the FET, and of a cover layer on the channel layer which forms a gate.
