A casement operator crank includes a base member, a handle, a hinged detent, and a resilient biasing member. The handle has a main body portion connects to the base member for rotation about a handle axis between an open orientation and a closed orientation. The hinged detent pivotally engages with the base member for rotation about a detent axis between a first orientation relative to the main body portion and a second orientation relative to the main body portion. The resilient biasing member acts between the hinged detent and the handle. The biasing member and hinged detent operably: a) bias the main body portion toward the open orientation about the handle axis when the main body portion is in the open orientation; and b) the main body portion toward the closed orientation about the handle axis when the main body portion is in the closed orientation.

The invention relates to a fitting () for actuating a mechanism in a door or window, which has a handle () that is rotatably supported in or on a stop element () about an axis of rotation (D), wherein the stop element () can be fastened to the door or window, a drive pin () for actuating the mechanism in the door or window, a coupling element () for coupling the handle () to the drive pin (), and a blocking device (), which blocks the actuation of the drive pin () about the axis of rotation (D) when in the blocking position (A), wherein the blocking device () can be moved to a releasing position (B) through an axial actuation of the handle from a first position to a second position along the axis of rotation (D). In order to ensure increased security against unauthorized actuation of the fitting or the mechanism connected to the fitting in the window or door, and to obtain a fitting that is easy to manipulate and inexpensive to produce, the handle () is decoupled from the drive pin () in the first position (I), wherein the blocking device () is then in the blocking position (A), and the coupling element () couples the handle () and the drive pin () in the second position, and keeps the blocking device () in the releasing position (B). When the second position is reached, the handle is coupled to the drive pin, and unlocks it for the actuation of the mechanism.

Window and/or door fitting

The invention relates to a lock assembly () of a planar component () displaceably mounted in frame (). Said assembly () comprises an engaging element () which, in said planar component's closed position, can be fixed in place in a latching system (). Said latching system is designed in a manner that, in its blocked position, the engaging element, for instance a bar affixable by compression and/or friction in the latching system (), can be inserted into latter in a first direction (R) opposite the direction of closing (X) of the planar component (), whereas such insertion is blocked in a second direction (S) which is opposite said planar component's direction of opening (O). This design allows almost noiselessly operating the lock assembly. The planar component also may be closed when the latching system is in the blocked position already when the planar component is open. Moreover all double fittings are averted and as a result the said planar component always can be closed and be locked in play-free manner.

Lock assembly

A detent assembly&#x2014;namely of pairs of sub-assemblies of which the individual ones comprise spatially directly associated surfaces at which projecting elements cooperate with engaging elements in prestressed manner&#x2014;comprises at least one detent element within a detent sub-assembly, said detent element being retained prestressed within an obliquely directed guide in a manner that it projects beyond a detent sub-assembly outer surface and that it enters an aperture sub-assembly while being obliquely prestressed into a recess of an opposite aperture outer surface and rests only unilaterally and point-wise against associated rim sites of the mutually associated interlocking zones. A preferred application relates to a handle being supported rotatably but in axially fixed position by a stop fitted with a disk connected to a handle extension and comprising circumferential interlocking recesses, for instance notches. The stop is fitted with guides containing compression springs to prestress balls and to guide them at an angle to the line of symmetry of the notches. To attain play-free interlocking, the guide-supported detent balls act point-wise on the interlocking notches of the disk.

Detent assembly and its application to actuation means

An intuitively operable door locking arrangement and a method include, a lock-point arming input element that is connected directly to a handle-operated control element of the locking arrangement, rather than being connected directly to a lock-point of the door locking arrangement. The locking arrangement and method may be used in hinged single or multiple-panel installations, having single, and/or multiple lock-points, may allow keyless locking from outside, and may include a latching arrangement. In active door locking apparatuses, the lock-point is movable only through operation of the handle-operated control element. The lock point arming element is selectively moveable between an armed and a disarmed position thereof, and is configured and connected to the handle-operated control element in such a manner that the handle-operated control element may be used to move the lock-point to the locked position thereof only when the lock-point arming input element is in the armed position thereof.
