A placeholder for vertebrae or vertebral discs includes a tubular body, which along its jacket surface has a plurality of breakthroughs or openings for over-growth with adjacent tissue. The placeholder includes at least a second tubular body provided with a plurality of breakthroughs and openings at least partially inside the first tubular body. The first and second tubular bodies can have different cross-sectional shapes, can be are arranged inside one another by press fit or force fit or can be connected to each other via connecting pins and arranged side by side to one another in the first body.

Multi-walled placeholder

A bone anchoring element comprising a shaft () for anchoring in a bone, with a plurality of barb elements () arranged in at least one helical line around the shaft axis (M) is described, wherein said barb elements are elastically movable relative to the shaft. The bone anchoring element () is easy to press into a core hole bore in a bone. The barb elements () act in a similar manner as do the threads on a conventional bone screw and thus provide for depth positioning. Moreover, the barb elements at the same time secure the bone anchoring element and prevent it from sliding-out.

Bone anchoring element

A bone screw is provided including a tubular body and a head as separate parts. The tubular body has a first end, a second end, a tubular wall defining a cavity and a plurality of openings extending through the tubular wall into the cavity. The tubular body also includes a continuous exterior bone thread on an exterior tubular surface of the tubular wall. The continuous exterior bone thread extends for at least one full revolution about the tubular surface. The head defines an inner bore and includes an engagement structure to engage with a driver to advance the bone screw in the bone when a rotating force from the driver is applied to the engagement structure in a first direction, and a connection structure to connect to the tubular body at the first end. The head is connected to the tubular body by the connection structure in such a way that the head is locked against disconnection from the tubular body when a rotating force from a driver is applied to the engagement structure in a second direction opposite to the first direction.

Bone screw

A bone anchoring element () for anchoring an external device in a bone is described. A head () capable of connection to the external device is provided with a shaft () that can be anchored in a bone. A predetermined section of the shaft () has a bone thread (). Moreover, the shaft () also has at least one bone thread-free surface () that extends from a first end to a second end of the predetermined section essentially along the direction of the shaft axis. The bone anchoring element (), thus provided, is pressed or soft-hammered into a hole () previously generated in the bone and fixed in the bone by rotation by a predetermined angle. If the bone anchoring element has to be removed this can be achieved by unscrewing it in the standard fashion. The disclosure also describes methods for using the bone anchoring element.

Bone anchoring element with thread that can be unscrewed

A bone anchoring element includes an anchoring section for anchoring in the bone and a receiving part connected to the anchoring section. The receiving part includes an opening suitable for accommodation of a stabilization rod having a rod axis, the opening being limited along the rod axis by two side walls. The side walls include guides orientated along the rod axis for guiding at least one connection rod therethrough.

Bone anchoring element and stabilization device for bones, in particular for the spinal column

An anchoring element includes a screw having a shank with a bone thread portion and a head. The anchoring element also includes a receiving part for connecting the screw to a rod-shaped element, the screw and the receiving part being connected to one another in a polyaxial or monoaxial manner, and the shank of the screw being of tubular design and its wall having a plurality of recesses. The bone anchoring element provides for the bone screw to fuse with the surrounding bone substance, and at the same time bone portions or vertebrae can be positioned relative to one another and fixed. Moreover, a substance to be introduced into the bone can be introduced precisely at the desired site.

A rod-shaped implant for stabilizing bone structures, in particular the spinal column includes a rod-shaped implant having a rod-shaped member with a first end and a second and a longitudinal axis. The rod-shaped member is at least partly made from a plastic material exhibiting flexibility and includes a longitudinal bore. A reinforcing rod is accommodated in the bore and is made from a material which is more rigid than the material of the rod-shaped member itself. The reinforcing rod is slidable in the bore.

A bone anchoring device includes an anchoring element having a shaft and a head; a receiving part having a top end, a bottom end, a rod recess, a coaxial bore, and a seat; and a pressure element that is movable within the bore. The head is pivotable with respect to the receiving part and can be fixed at an angle by exerting pressure via the pressure element onto the head. The pressure element has an outer wall portion having a recess or a projection. The receiving part has an inner wall portion having a recess or a projection that cooperates with the recess or projection of the pressure element. The pressure element is configured to assume a first position within the receiving part in which the recess and the projection interact to allow the pressure element to exert a preload onto the head and the head is prevented from freely pivoting but is not locked.
