Two cylinder chambers are provided in a housing, each of these chambers containing a piston. Pins project, as piston rods, from the pistons in differing directions. A duct is located in a zone between the pistons. This duct is in communication with a compressed gas cartridge. Upon triggering of the compressed gas cartridge, the released gas moves the pistons apart so that the pins are moved simultaneously or in accordance with a predetermined sequence of operations.

Compressed gas-actuated mechanical power element

An electric detonator has a casing and a pole piece electrically insulated with respect to the casing by means of an insulating cup, as well as with an ignition resistor electrically conductively connected to the casing and to the pole piece. In order to avoid undesirable charges on the insulating cup, which could be the cause of misfirings, the insulating cup is associated with an electrically conductive coating in contact with the casing and with the pole piece.

Electric detonator

An impact sensitive ignition device with an amplifier charge including a housing having a bottom and side wall, the side wall having a shoulder. An igniter is disposed in the housing at the bottom thereof with an anvil positioned in the housing for cooperation with the igniter. The anvil has at least one aperture therethrough and is supported on the shoulder of the housing. A sleeve member is disposed above the anvil and has an open end with a flange thereat, the sleeve member being coupled to the housing at the flange thereof, and the amplifier charge is disposed in the sleeve member.

Ignition device with amplifier charge

A rotary power element for tensioning devices of safety mechanisms for protecting the occupants of vehicles by the use of safety belts has a rotatable drive mechanism, a compress-gas generator, and a tubular element between the drive mechanism and the compressed-gas generator. Also, the element includes at least one preformed acceleration member arranged in the tubular element. This member is capable of being driven forward against the drive mechanism under the action of compressed gas produced by said compressed-gas generator to accelerate the drive mechanism.

Rotary power element

An electronic switch for projectiles includes a circuit with a source of electric energy which is switched in when the projectile is discharged. The circuit includes an adjustable time-delay device for the explosion of the projectile, a device for preventing muzzle burst, and a self-destruct arrangement. The exploding fuse is connected to the source of energy by an impact or a proximity switch. The self-destruct arrangement is settable by cooperating cells carried by the projectile and by the barrel of the gun.

Electronic projectile fuse

A fastening element having a cavity containing an explosive charge arranged so that, upon explosion of the explosive charge, anchoring of the fastening element in a bore of a workpiece takes place automatically. This fastening element functions both as a rivet and nail in combination and comprises sleeve means defining the cavity containing the explosive charge at one end and providing an aperture at the other end, and a nail disposed within the sleeve means, said nail comprising a head, shank and a tip and being arranged to be driven outside the aperture formed in the other end of the sleeve means. The head of the nail acts as a piston which can be driven by explosion of the explosive charge and as a stop which arrests the driving-out movement when the shank of the nail has passed through said aperture.

Fastening element with a cavity containing an explosive charge

A compressed-gas-actuated switching device including a housing, at least one primer for generating compressed gas and an actuating element for actuating a device to be actuated in response to generated compressed gas. The switching device further includes a mechanical triggering arrangement in combination with at least one of an electrical and a thermal triggering arrangement for initiating the at least one primer element.

An apparatus for the tensioning and relaxing of a safety belt including an elongated housing, a tensioning piston, and a tie rod for connection with the safety belt and arranged for retraction relative to the housing in response to pressure on the tensioning piston as well as being arranged thereafter for extension relative to the housing with a delay in response to tensile stress on the safety belt. A hydraulic damping arrangement including a damping cylinder containing a liquid and damping piston coupled with the tensioning piston is provided for forming a telescopic arrangement such that after the tensioning piston effects the retraction of the tie rod and reaches an arrested retracted position thereof, the hydraulic damping arrangement enables damped extension of the tie rod relative to the housing by displacement of the damping piston which in turn displaces liquid in the damping cylinder in response to tensile stress on the safety belt.

Apparatus for the tensioning and relaxing of safety belts

A rotary power element has a compressed-gas generator having a liquid for actuation of a rotary drive element. The liquid for actuation of the drive element is sealed within a pipe by bursting elements. In a preferred embodiment the pipe is curved into a coil surrounded by an external supporting sleeve.

Apparatus for the thermal and electrical initiation of fire protection devices including a housing with a displaceable support member and an abutment member provided therein. A blocking or spacing device is disposed between the displaceable support member and the abutment member with the displaceable supports member being biased against said blocking device in the direction toward the abutment member. The blocking device is responsive to the exceeding of a predetermined temperature for enabling displacement of the displaceable support member for initiating a fire protection device. The abutment member is constructed as a plunger displaceable within the housing in the direction towards the displaceable support member, and an electrically actuatable compressed-gas-generating igniter device is disposed on the side of the plunger facing away from the blocking device for producing compressed gas to cause displacement of the plunger toward the blocking device.

Apparatus for the thermal and electrical initiation of fire protection

Apparatus for fire protection purposes including a compressed-gas cartridge device with at least a thermally responsive triggering mechanism. The triggering mechanism includes a striker for forcibly being driven toward the compressed-gas cartridge device and a locking device for maintaining the striker at a spacing from said compressed-gas cartridge device by engaging a portion of said striker pin with one end portion thereof. Another end portion of the locking device is biased against a blocking device with the blocking device being disposed between the another end portion of the locking device and an abutment member. The blocking device is responsive to the exceeding of a predetermined temperature for enabling displacement of the locking device out of engagement with the striker thereby permitting movement of the striker toward the compressed-gas cartridge device.

Compressed-gas cartridge for fire protection purposes

A propellant charge igniter has an outer sleeve open at one end, an inner sleeve positioned within the outer sleeve and provided with a closed-end portion adjacent to the one end of said outer sleeve. A closed-end portion of the inner sleeve has predetermined bursting zones and contains a booster propellant charge. The propellant charge igniter is also provided with an expansion ring of a pressure-resistant material of low tensile strength which is arranged adjacent to the one end of the outer sleeve between the outer sleeve and the inner sleeve.

The present invention relates to a propellant charge igniter having a striker element with a rearward cylindrical shank portion extending through the bottom piece of the propellant charge igniter, a forward headpiece following the shank portion and having an enlarged outer diameter with respect to the shank portion, the striker element resting on an annular shoulder formed in the bottom piece and being provided with an annular, separable collar held by means of a counter member extending over the headpiece.

A combined igniter cap for electrical and nonelectrical ignition having an electrically conductive housing with a pole piece arranged therein. A first primer charge is arranged on a first side of the pole piece, and the pole piece being provided with a recess and a first communicating path through the pole piece between the recess and the first primer charge. A second ignition system is arranged in the recess and is ignitable from a second side of said pole piece which is disposed oppositely to the first side. An insulating element is disposed between the first side of said pole piece and the first primer charge and is provided with first and second electrical contact members having an electrical ignition bridge and/or gap formed therebetween. The electrical ignition bridge and/or gap faces the first primer charge and the first contact member is electrically conductively connected with the pole piece while the second contact member is electrically conductively connected with the housing. The insulating element is further provided with a second communicating path providing communication between the first communicating path and the first primer charge.

Combined igniter cap

Device for tensioning safety belts in vehicles in which one end of the safety belt is securable to the vehicle and the other end of the belt is securable to the tensioning device. The device includes a cylinder having a piston with a piston rod extending from one side of the piston out of the cylinder to which the safety belt is securable. The piston is provided with a recess receiving an electrically ignitable propellant charge cartridge such that upon ignition of the cartridge propellant gases are generated which flow into the cylinder at the piston rod side of the piston for causing the piston and piston rod to be displaced into the cylinder to effect a tensioning of the safety belt.
