The invention relates to a calibration standard () for a device () for image-based representation of biological material () which is excited to luminescence at least regionally during the examination. The device () has an illumination unit () comprising a radiation source, by which an electromagnetic excitation radiation () is emittable. Furthermore, a receptacle () is provided, which ensures that the biological material () arranged on a carrier () is positioned within a beam path of the excitation radiation (). Moreover, the device has at least one image generating unit (), which receives luminescence radiation () emitted by the biological material () on account of the excitation by the excitation radiation () and generates an image at least of the regions of the biological material () which are excited to luminescence. For calibration purposes, the device has a calibration standard (), which emits a calibration radiation on account of the excitation by the excitation radiation (), which calibration radiation is captured by the image generating unit (), and a calibration signal is generatable in a controller () taking account of the captured calibration radiation. The technical solution described is distinguished by the fact that the calibration standard () has a housing () with, enclosed therein, a substance () which is excitable to luminescence, and is fixedly connected to the illumination unit () or the receptacle () with the aid of a fixing means ().

Calibration standard for a device for image-based representation of biological material

A method and microscopy system are useful for recording an image of a sample region. A laser beam is directed onto the sample region with interface(s). An objective lens facilitates images the laser beam on a focusing point which lies on the optical axis of the objective lens or an axis parallel thereto, and which lies in a focusing plane. The objective lens and the sample region are displaced with respect to one another in relative fashion along the optical axis of the objective lens to different relative displacement positions. Intensity values of the laser beam are captured for a respective relative displacement position. A respective highest intensity value for a respective displacement position, a curve of the highest intensity values, and a reference relative displacement position from at least one maximum of the curve, are determined. Image(s) of the sample region is/are captured at the reference relative displacement position.

Method and microscopy system for recording an image

Gases can be selectively detected by utilization of an infrared (IR) absorption photometer via their specific absorption in the IR range. Known instruments are generally rather expensive, are of considerable size, require careful treatment and as a rule can be operated by skilled personnel only. The microstructured IR absorption photometer of the present invention is developed for (quasi-) continuously controlling a gaseous stream, the photometer being a single-piece shaped part manufactured as a microstructured body. The photometer is compact and robust, suitable for portable instruments and can be manufactured at low cost and in large numbers. The photometer can be made of metal and can be used even at an increased temperature. A flashlight lamp serves as an IR radiation source and a lead selenide receiver as an IR radiation receiver. The pulse repetition frequency of the flashlight lamp is from 0.01 Hz to 10 Hz. The pulse interval preferably amounts to more than a thousand times the pulse duration. By using the inventive photometer the safety of systems in which flammable, toxic, or other gases are contained or may occur can be considerably increased in an economic manner.
