The cross-linking of halogenated polymers such as chlorinated polyethylene with bis-(2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole) in the presence of a basic substance may easily be carried out and leads to improved properties of the vulcanisate, in particular when amidamines such as, for example, tetraethylene pentamine distearate are used as basic substances.

Process for the cross-linking of halogenated polymers

An addition of 1 to 10% by weight and preferably 2 to 5% by weight, based on polyurethane rubber, of a fatty acid ester of pentaerythritol or a mixture of an alkane with a fatty acid to the polyurethane rubber mix eliminates the tendency towards sticking and improves the flow properties.

The crosslinking of chlorinated polyethylene with 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole in the presence of a basic substance may be carried out easily and leads to improved vulcanizate properties if amido amines, for example tetraethylene pentamine distearate, are used as the basic substances.

Epoxidized and subsequently cross-linked esters of alcohols which are at least dihydric and unsaturated fatty acids may be used as active processing substance in polymers, in particular elastomers, at higher temperatures, in particular at higher vulcanization temperatures, than 'Factice'.
