A single longitudinal mode ring Raman laser including: a pump source outputting a pump light power, resonantly coupled to a first ring resonator; a optical measurement and piezo-actuator for stabilising the resonant coupling of the pump light power to a first ring resonator; a first ring resonator including a Raman gain medium, wherein the Raman gain medium receives the pump light power and undergoes Raman lasing generating resonated Stokes power at the corresponding Stokes output wavelength; the first ring resonator acting as a feedback loop for the pump light power and the resonated Stokes power and outputting a portion of the Stokes power as the laser output.

A frequency electromagnetic radiation generation system including: a non linear crystal producing THz frequency electromagnetic radiation; a fundamental beam that interacts with the non linear crystal thereby emitting a THz frequency electromagnetic radiation emission; a silicon intermediary coupled to the non linear crystal for output channeling the THz frequency electromagnetic radiation emission to an output environment; the system utilising a fundamental beam which has a photon energy below the bandgap energy of silicon.

Terahertz lasers and terahertz extraction

A tunable lasing device including a vertical external cavity surface emitting laser, adapted to generate a fundamental laser beam in response to pumping from a pump source, said fundamental laser beam having a fundamental wavelength and a fundamental linewidth; a fundamental resonator cavity adapted to resonate the fundamental beam therein; a first optical element located within the fundamental resonator cavity for control of the fundamental linewidth of the fundamental beam; a Raman resonator located at least partially in said fundamental resonator adapted to receive the fundamental beam and comprising therein, a solid state Raman active medium located therein for generating at least a first Stokes beam from the fundamental beam wherein said Raman resonator cavity is adapted to resonate said Stokes beam therein and further adapted to emit an output beam; and further comprising a nonlinear medium located within the Raman resonator cavity for nonlinear frequency conversion of at least one of the beams present in the fundamental or the Raman resonator cavity; said tunable lasing device further comprising an output coupler adapted to emit an output beam, said output beam comprising at least a portion of said frequency converted beam being derived from at least one of the resonating beams in said fundamental or said Raman resonator cavities.

Wavelength versatile vecsel raman laser

A method and system for generating a Raman second Stokes light to a source light comprising generating a Raman first Stokes light from the source light by a Raman interaction in a nonlinear optical medium disposed in an optical resonator, and resonating the Raman first Stokes light in the optical resonator; generating a seed light at the frequency of the Raman second Stokes light from the source light and the Raman first Stokes light by a four wave mixing process which is not phase matched in the nonlinear medium; amplifying the seed light by transferring power from the first Stokes light resonating in the optical resonator to the seed light using a Raman amplification process in the nonlinear medium; and extracting from the optical resonator a majority of the power of the seed light so amplified.

Method and a system for generating a Raman second Stokes light to a source light

A continuous wave Raman laser for producing visible laser output comprising: a resonator cavity; at least a first reflector and a second reflector said first and second reflectors being located at opposite ends of the resonator cavity; a laser gain medium located in the resonator cavity for generating a continuous wave fundamental beam which resonates within the resonator cavity when pumped by a pump beam from a pump source external to the resonator cavity; a solid Raman-active medium positioned in the resonator cavity for Raman shifting the fundamental beam to produce a continuous wave Raman beam which resonates within the resonator cavity; and a non-linear medium positioned in the resonator cavity for frequency converting the continuous wave Raman beam to a converted wavelength to produce a continuous wave converted beam.

Continuous-wave laser

The invention provides a laser system () wherein the output may be selected from two or more different wavelengths of output laser light. The system () comprises a laser capable of having at least two different wavelengths of laser light resonating in the cavity () simultaneously. One of the frequencies is generated by a Raman crystal () which shifts the frequency of light generated by the lasing medium (). A tunable non-linear medium (), such as LBO, is provided in the cavity for selectively frequency converting at least one of the at least two different wavelengths of laser light. The conversion may be SHG, SFG or DFG for example. A tuner () is provided to tune the non-linear medium to select the particular wavelength to convert. Temperature tuning or angle tuning of the non-linear medium can be used. A Q switch () may also be provided in the cavity. The output laser beam can be used for treatment, detection or diagnosis of a selected area on or in a subject, and can be used in opthalmological and dermatological fields.

Selectable multiwavelength laser for outputting visible light

The present invention relates to a stable solid-state Raman laser, the solid-state Raman laser including a resonator cavity defined by at least two reflectors, a laser material located in the resonator cavity and capable of generating a cavity laser beam which propagates within the resonator cavity, a solid Raman medium located in the resonator cavity for shifting the frequency of the cavity laser beam to produce a Raman laser beam which propagates within the resonator cavity; and an output coupler for coupling and outputting the Raman laser beam from the resonator cavity, wherein at least one parameter selected from the group consisting of the position of the laser material relative to the position of the Raman medium in the cavity, the length of the cavity and the curvature of at least one of the reflectors, is selected such that changes in the focal lengths of both the laser material and the Raman medium as a result of thermal effects in the laser material and the Raman medium during operation of the laser do not substantially cause instability in the power of the output Raman laser beam. A method of maintaining stable operation of a solid state Raman laser is also described.
