The device according to the invention for carrying out chemical and/or physical reactions between a solid material and a gas, in particular for the preheating, cooling and/or calcining of fine-grain materials, essentially comprises at least one helical and/or spiral conduit, in which the gas-solid material suspension is separated by centrifugal forces into a solid material flow and a gas flow, and, connected to the end of the helical and/or spiral conduit, at least one separation region, to which a solid material conduit for discharging the solid material flow and a gas conduit for discharging the gas flow are connected. The separation region is here formed by a lower part of the gas conduit, the separation region in the region of the junction of the helical and/or spiral conduit and the part of the gas conduit above and adjoining it having the same diameter. To form a swirling flow, the helical and/or spiral conduit opens out tangentially and at an angle to the horizontal of at least 30&#xb0; into the separation region.

Device and a method for carrying out chemical and/or physical reactions between a solid material and a gas as well as a plant for cement manufacture

The device according to the invention for separating a solid material and a gas substantially comprises an ascending conduit for conducting a gas-solid material suspension having a solid material supply port for feeding in a solid material and a gas supply port for feeding in a gas, a descending helical and/or spiral conduit, in which the gas-solid material suspension is separated into a solid material flow and a gas flow by centrifugal forces, a diverter head that connects the ascending conduit with the helical and/or spiral conduit, wherein in the region of the diverter head at least one bend is provided in the conduit configuration, connected to the end of the helical and/or spiral conduit a solid material conduit for discharging the flow of solid material and also connected to the end of the helical and/or spiral conduit a gas conduit for discharging the flow of gas.

Device for separating a solid material and a gas and a plant for cement manufacture

A device for performing chemical and/or physical reactions between a solid material and a gas, especially for preheating, cooling and/or calcining fine-grained materials has at least three stages arranged one above the other, each stage comprising the following components: a. a gas-solids suspension duct for conducting a gas-solids suspension, b. means for separating the delivered solid material from the delivered gas, c. a solids duct for discharging the separated solid material, d. and a gas duct for discharging the separated gas, the gas duct of one stage merging into the gas-solids suspension duct of the next-higher stage and the solids duct of one stage joining the gas-solids suspension duct of the next lower stage. In addition, the junction of the solids duct and the gas-solids suspension duct of the third or a higher stage is provided below the highest point of the gas-solids suspension duct arranged two stages lower.

Device for performing chemical and/or physical reactions between a solid material and a gas

The invention relates to a suspension heat exchanger for heat exchange between gas and fines. It contains a plurality of cyclone separators which lie one above another with their axes aligned vertically and in which the cover walls and the inlet pipe connections of the substantially straight upper parts of the cyclones are inclined at an acute angle with respect to the horizontal. This contributes to a particularly simple and space-saving overall construction and to a favourable material separation with relatively low pressure loss.

Suspension preheater

Apparatus for the heat treatment of fine material comprises a multi-stage cyclone preheater, a rotary kiln and a calciner supplied with tertiary air from a cooler for precalcination of the preheated fine material. The tertiary air pipe is narrowed at the point where it joins into the calciner. In this way an intensification of the mixing together of material, fuel and gas is achieved as well as an improved combustion, particularly fuels which are slow to react.

Apparatus for the heat treatment of fine material

The invention relates to a method and apparatus for the heat treatment of fine-grained material wherein a precalcination zone formed by the kiln exhaust gas duct of a rotary kiln and into which two branch streams of cooling air which have been subjected to opposing rotational flow are introduced. In this way an equalization of the speed profile over the cross-section of the kiln exhaust gas duct and an improvement in the burning up of the fuel is achieved.

Method and apparatus for the heat treatment of fine-grained material

A chamber which forms a material inlet and an exhaust gas outlet at one end of a rotary kiln has an inclined bottom arranged to cause preheated fine material deposited thereon to slide by gravity into the end of the rotary kiln. A dense stream of fine granular material is deposited on such inclined surface, and fuel in finely divided form is introduced into the dense stream of material flowing down the inclined surface to cause the fuel to become intimately mixed with the material. Gas is discharged from the kiln in contact with the stream of material as such a velocity as to entrain a substantial proportion of such stream, the temperature and composition of the gas being such as to cause combustion of the fuel mixed with the entrained material.
