A cabling and yarn double-twisting spindle having pneumatic assistance for a threading up of the yarns to be handled by the spindle is provided. The spindle includes a shaft rotatably supportable in a support hub on a spindle bank. The shaft has a central, axially extending shaft bore, and package top. The package top is secured against rotation and has a hollow spindle axial portion disposed in communication with the spindle shaft bore. A pressurized air injector effects threading up of a yarn component delivered via the hollow spindle axial portion of the package top with another yarn component delivered via the spindle shaft bore, and includes a pressurized air supply conduit in the spindle shaft such that the pulse of air injected by the air injector is operable to produce a suction flow in the hollow spindle axial portion of the package top and in the spindle shaft bore.

In a method of manufacturing a twisted yarn a rotor is rotatably supported on a machine frame. A yarn guide channel extends radially within the rotor over at least a portion of its diameter. A centering eye for the twisted yarn is positioned on the extension of the rotor axis. A yarn guide tube is arranged so as to guide a yarn exiting from the yarn guide channel to the centering eye. A spinning device is rotatably supported on the rotor eccentrically relative to the rotor axis. A fiber strand is dissolved into dissolved fiber material and fed axially through the rotor and upwardly toward the spinning device where at least two spun fibers are produced. The spun fibers are downwardly guided toward the yarn guide channel so as to form a plied yarn. Along this path the spun fibers are subjected to a first twist to form a once twisted yarn by the rotation of the spinning device relative to the rotor. The once twisted yarn is guided into the yarn guide channel, then upwardly into the yarn guide tube and through the centering eye. Along this path the once twisted yarn it is subjected to a second twist to form a twice twisted yarn by the rotation of the rotor counter to the direction or rotation of the spinning device.

The yarn ends of the packages are arranged in the interior of the hollow center of the package before the transportation. The yarn packages are creeled on a common, tubular adapter, which is provided on its upper end with a gripping head for engagement with a gripper and/or the transport element of a conveying system. Then the yarn ends F1 and F2 are arranged in the interior of the adapter and held therein during the entire transportation until the set of yarn packages is inserted into a spindle of the twisting machine. Once the set of yarn packages is inserted into the spindle, a yarn unwinding head permitting the entry of the yarns is added, and the yarn ends are guided through this unwinding head into the spindle.
