The connecting device includes a mounting plate, which are connectable to a sliding door by means of mounting screws and which is connectable to a carriage device. A connecting plate is provided that is arranged between the mounting plate and a coupling plate, which is connectable to the carriage device. The connecting plate is connected, shiftable in a first direction, to the mounting plate by first connecting elements and is held shiftable to a selected first shift position by a first adjustment screw that is connected to the mounting plate. The coupling plate is connected, shiftable in a second direction, to the connecting plate by second connecting elements, and is held shiftable to a selected second shift position by a second adjustment screw that is connected to the connecting plate.

A sliding device (), guided on the ceiling () or under the floor () of a cabinet () with a rail element (), which allows a sliding door () to be synchronously pulled away from the closet () in a parallel manner and then slid. In order to also guide the lower edge of the sliding door (), the motion of the sliding door can be transmitted from the upper edge of the sliding door to the lower edge by a transmission shaft. No cavities or guide grooves have to be formed on the cabinet () or the floor (), ceiling (), side walls (), or partition wall () thereof.

The upper portion of a panel can be slidably suspended in an elongated guide rail at the underside of an elongated support by connecting the upper portion of the panel with two spaced-apart carriers each of which is provided with an upwardly extending follower including one or more pairs of rollers extending into the interior of the rail from below. The carriers can be separably attached to and are then turnable in bearings which are recessed into the upper portion of the panel, or each carrier can be provided with an anchoring device having one or more knives which penetrate into the material of the panel when a main portion of a carrier is received in a recess of the panel and the anchoring device is thereupon turned relative to its carrier. The overhead support can be provided with clips which releasably hold the panel in either of two end positions and/or with stops which can arrest the panel in a preselected end position relative to the guide rail.
