A two-for-one twisting machine is provided and includes a spindle having a yarn brake. The yarn brake includes a brake housing, a brake cartridge having opposed ends, first and second brake rings disposed within the brake housing, and a support element. The yarn brake also includes a guide conduit extending generally co-axially within the brake housing supporting the support element at a selectively variable axial location within the brake housing and a yarn intake tube extending within the guide conduit. A spring extends between the support element and the second brake ring for resiliently biasing the second brake ring and the brake cartridge is releasably compressively engaged by the first brake ring pressing against one end of the brake cartridge and the second brake ring pressing against the opposite end thereof.

Yarn brake and a two-for-one twisting spindle having such a yarn brake

A two-for-one twisting machine is provided and includes includes a spindle having a yarn brake. The yarn brake includes a brake housing, a brake cartridge having opposed ends, first and second brake rings disposed within the brake housing, a guide conduit and a yarn intake tube extending within the guide conduit. A brake cartridge of the yarn brake has a first tube section, a second tube section, and a third tube section disposed axially intermediate the first tube section and the second tube section. The tube sections are all arranged in resiliently biased telescoping manner within one another such that the second tube section is resiliently biased in one axial direction outwardly from the third tube section and the first tube section is resiliently biased outwardly from the third tube section in an opposite axial direction opposite to the one axial direction.

A device for adjusting capsule thread brakes in twisting machines having inside the twisting spindle a capsule thread brake has a brake ring disposed on a brake ring support which may be moved against a spring force. On the brake ring support a ring piston is arranged, which is guided in a ring cylinder connected to a compressed air supply line. A first toothed segment with downwardly directed teeth is arranged on the periphery of the brake ring support, and a second toothed segment with upwardly directed teeth is located opposite the first toothed segment. A support stop engages the slots formed between the teeth of the toothed segments during displacement of the brake ring support. The tooth flanks of the two toothed segments are provided with inclined surfaces in such a way that an upward and downward movement of the brake ring support results in a rotation of the brake ring support by predetermined angle values and an adjustment of the capsule thread brake as a consequence of the support stop abutting against slot bottoms at different axial heights. Several capsule thread brakes may be adjusted simultaneously by a central control device with compressed air pulses supplied by a common compressed air supply line.

A method of cleaning a yarn supply package protective pot and, preferably, a balloon limiter device of a spindle assembly of a two-for-one twister yarn processing machine with a maintenance device mounted for movement longitudinally along the machine and to each of the spindle assemblies. The methods include moving a gripper device of a first cleaning device out of the maintenance device and into the protective pot of the selected spindle assembly for gripping and moving the protective pot out of the spindle assembly and into the maintenance device, while cleaning the protective pot in the maintenance device and then returning the protective pot to the spindle assembly. When the balloon limiter is also cleaned, a second cleaning device is moved out of the maintenance device and into the balloon limiter device of the spindle assembly while the protective pot has been removed and is being cleaned in the maintenance device. The balloon limiter is cleaned by the second cleaning device in the spindle assembly and the second cleaning device is then returned to the maintenance device and the gripper device of the first cleaning device then returns the cleaned protective pot to the spindle assembly.

Method for cleaning yarn supply package protective pots and balloon

A device for cleaning protective pots and, if need be, balloon limiters of two-for-one twisting spindles of a two-for-one twister, which comprises cleaning elements, preferably in the form of brush bars, which are arranged on a motor-driven, vertical shaft and preferably adjustable in radial direction, and which can be lowered into a protective pot and, if necessary, into a balloon limiter of a two-for-one twisting spindle, with a suction device for the removal of air laden with dust and dirt particles being associated to each cleaning device. This cleaning device can be a part of an automatic maintenance device.

Operating method and apparatus for automatically cleaning spindle

In a thread brake having two coaxial braking surface rings 2, 3 arranged in spaced relationship to one another and a capsule-shaped braking cartridge 7 whose hemispherical ends bear against the braking surface rings, to make it easier to thread a thread through the brake and the two braking surface rings are each provided with an axial threading slot 2', 3' so that a thread which is inserted sideways into the threading slots in the two braking surface rings can be automatically introduced between the braking surfaces in a simple and reliable manner by tightening or tensioning the thread.
