A hose clip is made of a metal band having a first end portion and a second end portion. The first end portion and the second end portion overlap each other when the hose clip is in a closed position so that the second end portion is disposed radially inwardly with respect to the first end portion. The second end portion has a first radially outwardly directed closure member. The second end portion has a first cutting edge having a first portion adjoining the first closure member. The first portion extends substantially transversely with respect to a peripheral direction of the band. The second end portion has a first clamping jaw protruding radially outwardly from the band. In the closed position, the first clamping jaw is not overlapped by the first end portion. The first portion of the first cutting edge defines a projection that is oriented towards the first clamping jaw. The projection extends parallel to the band. The first end portion has a second closure member protruding radially inward at an inclined angle. The second closure member extends over the entire axial width of the band. The first end portion has a second clamping jaw protruding radially outwardly from the band. In the closed position, the first closure member and the second closure member engage each other so that the second closure member engages radially inside of the projection.

Hose clip

A hose clamp having an elastically flexible clamp band, which is made of metal. A clamping head joins the ends of the clamp band. The clamp band has a slit that extends in the circumferential direction. The slit divides the band into a first edge section and a second edge section. One of the two edge sections includes a spring device (e.g., a corrugation), which creates a spring force in the circumferential direction of the hose clamp over an entire operating temperature range. Thus, the hose clamp sealingly locks a hose in place on a pipe, regardless of any thermally caused expansion or contraction of the hose material.

Hose clamp

A one piece housing for a worm driven hose clamp includes a screw and a clamping band. The screw has a head and a shank. The shank is threaded. The housing includes a vaulted housing upper part and a housing lower part. The vaulted housing upper part has an open edge. The vaulted housing upper part receives the shank of the screw and supports the head at the opening edge. The housing lower part receives a first end segment and a second end segment of the clamping band. The first end segment has screw-thread segments. The threaded shank meshes with the screw thread segments. The housing lower part includes a base. The second end segment is fixed to the base. The housing lower part has only one side extension part for supporting the housing against turning during tightening of the screw. The side extension part has an upper wall comprising an upper wall segment, a lower wall segment and an upward-projecting wall. The upper wall segment and the lower wall segment overlap each other. The upward-projecting wall is connected to the base and, by a transition segment, to the upper wall segment. A portion of the transition segment is formed to create a cutout. The lower wall segment extends, at least in part, to an inner side of the upward-projecting wall. The lower wall segment extends, at least in part, into the cutout of the transition segment.

One-piece housing of a worm driven hose clamp

A device for clamping a hose end section that is fitted onto a pipe end section includes a hose clamp surrounding a hose end section. The hose clamp has overlapping end sections, each of which has an approximately radially outwardly extending tensioning jaw. A securing ring is fixed to the hose end section and has a radial projection. The securing ring surrounds the hose end section and is disposed between the hose end and the hose clamp. The securing ring is joined to the hose clamp in an area diametrically opposite to the area of overlap of the end sections of the hose clamp. The securing ring has a recess disposed in a radial projection. An approximately U-shaped clip has a cross-piece and a pair of legs depending from the cross-piece. The U-shaped clip is disposed such that, in the tensioned state, the legs of the clip overlap the tensioning jaws of each of the end sections. The U-shaped clip has a hook depending from the cross-piece that is radially engaged in the recess. In a further embodiment, the securing ring is not utilized and the cross-piece has an edge extending in the peripheral direction of the hose clamp. The edge is disposed on the free end side of the cross-piece and has a supporting arm depending from the edge such that, in the tensioned state, the supporting arm rests on the hose.

Device for clamping a hose end section fitted onto a pipe end section

A screw can be driven home in response to the application of a preselected torque by placing over the head of the screw a tubular first section of a plastic adapter wherein the first section is connected with a polygonal second section by a frangible joint. The joint breaks in response to the application of preselected torque to the second section, and the separated second section then exposes a destructible diaphragm which is provided in the first section and overlies the head of the screw. The head can be engaged by the working end of a tool in response to at least partial destruction of the diaphragm. The first section can be of one piece with the head or it can be affixed thereto by an adhesive or is in mere frictional engagement with the head. Integrity and accessibility of the diaphragm indicate that the screw was driven home in response to the application of preselected torque as well as that the head of the screw was not tampered with subsequent to separation of the second section from the first section of the adapter.

Tamper resistant device for the application of preselected torque to

A tool for the application of selected torque to the polygonal head of a bolt, to a nut or to an analogous component has a first portion which is a snug fit on the polygonal part of the component, and a polygonal second portion which can be engaged and rotated by a wrench. The material of the tool is more readily deformable than the material of the component and the material of the wrench so that the wrench deforms the second portion and/or the component deforms the first portion of the tool when the component offers a selected resistance to further rotation, i.e., in response to the application of a selected torque to the component. The first portion can be bonded or molded to the torque-receiving part of the component to be rotated, and the second portion can be coated with a film of a color different from that of the second portion to facilitate visual determination of the condition of the second portion. The tool can be provided with a third portion which can be used for the application of a different torque, or the second portion can be deformed in two or more stages to permit the application of torque in several stages or to permit the application of one of two or more different torques.

A coupling which serves to fluidtightly and separably connect the nipple at one end of a pipe with an end portion of a flexible hose has a sleeve with a first section which is insertable into the end portion of the hose and a second section form-lockingly or integrally connected with the first section and provided with axially parallel flexible prongs having openings for reception of discrete projections at the exterior of the nipple. A tubular clamping member is or can be integrally connected to and cooperates with the first section of the sleeve to sealingly engage the end portion of the hose. One or more sealing rings are inserted between the sleeve and the exterior of the nipple when the latter is received in the sleeve so that its projections enter or can enter the openings of the respective prongs.

Hose coupling

A metallic or plastic nipple which has an annular external recess adjacent a circumferentially complete annular retaining rib can be separably connected to an end portion of a flexible hose by a coupling employing a sleeve having a tubular section which is receivable in the end portion of the hose. The sleeve is further provided with a set of elastic prongs which slope toward the axis of the sleeve and extend into the recess adjacent the retaining rib when the nipple is inserted into the sleeve. A permanently deformable or repeatedly expansible and contractible discrete clamping member is applied around the end portion of the hose to maintain such end portion in sealing engagement with the tubular section of the sleeve. The prongs can be integral with the tubular section or with a second section of the sleeve. The second section is form-lockingly or otherwise affixed to the tubular section. The inner diameter of that portion of the tubular section which is introduced into the hose is at least slightly larger than the maximum diameter of the retaining rib. One or more O-rings or otherwise configurated annular sealing elements are interposed between the sleeve and the nipple.

A coupling which establishes a separable fluidtight connection between the nipple of a pipe and an end portion of a hose has a composite sleeve with a tubular first section which is insertable into the end portion of the hose and a separately produced second section which is form-lockingly connected to the first section and has one or more prongs engageable with a retainer at the exterior of the nipple. The end portion of the hose is sealingly clamped between the first section of the sleeve and a tubular member which is integral with one axial end of the first section to define with the latter an annular space for the end portion of the hose. One or more sealing rings are inserted into one or more grooves in the external surface of the nipple and/or in the internal surface of first section of the sleeve. The two sections of the sleeve can but need not be made of the same material, and the prong or prongs of the second section can be made of resilient or ductile material. The second section has a washer-like carrier with one or more axialy parallel prongs or a tubular carrier which surrounds the tubular member and carries one or more prongs.

A quick-release connector for pairs of hoses or other conduits has a tubular male component the front portion of which is insertable into the front part of a tubular female component and carries one or more sealing elements which engage the internal surface of the front part. The front portion of the male component is surrounded by a ring-shaped radially deformable retaining member with a smooth conical external surface which diverges from the axis of the male component in a direction toward the rear portion. The front part of the female component has a chamber behind one or more detents with radial flanks for engagement with the maximum-diameter end of the retaining member when the latter is fully received in the chamber. An annular deforming member is mounted in two windows of the front part for axial movement between a retracted position and an extended position in which the deforming member deforms the retaining member so that the latter can bypass the detent or detents and permits extraction of the front portion of the male component from the female component. The detent or detents deform the retaining member during insertion into the chamber, and the retaining member thereupon expands to abut the flank or flanks of the detent or detents. The windows communicate with the chamber of the front part and can extend all the way to the front end face of the female component.

Connector for hoses and the like

A coupling which establishes a separable fluid tight connection between a nipple at one end of a pipe and one end portion of a flexible elastic hose has a sleeve with a tubular section insertable into the end portion of a hose and a set of elastic prongs which can engage a retainer at the exterior of the nipple when the latter is inserted into the sleeve. A tubular clamping member surrounds the end portion of the hose and biases it into sealing engagement with the tubular section of the sleeve. A sealing ring in an internal groove of the tubular section is in sealing engagement with the external surface of the nipple. The groove is formed by providing the tubular section with a radially outwardly extending corrugation which contributes to retention of the end portion of the hose between the tubular section and the clamping member.

A coupling which serves to connect the nipple of a pipe to the end portion of a hose has a sleeve with a tubular section insertable into the end portion of the hose and one or more flexible prongs which extend from one axial end of the tubular section and can be bent into engagement with an external retainer of the nipple. The prongs are made of a ductile metallic material. A sealing ring is inserted between the exterior of the nipple and the interior of the tubular section, and a tubular clamping member is used to urge the end portion of the hose against the external surface of the tubular section of the sleeve. The prongs are spread apart during introduction of the nipple into the sleeve, and are thereupon flexed inwardly to engage the retainer.

A coupling for separably connecting one end portion of an elastic hose to a nipple at one end of a pipe has a sleeve with a circumferentially complete tubular section which is receivable in the end portion of the hose and can receive a portion of the nipple, and several substantially axially parallel elastic prongs which are engageable with an external retainer or with discrete external retainers of the nipple when the latter extends into the tubular section of the sleeve. A tubular clamping member is shrunk or otherwise applied around the end portion of the hose so that such end portion is clamped between the exterior of the tubular section and the clamping member. The entire tubular section and a portion at least of each prong is confined in the end portion of the hose when the latter is properly coupled to the nipple. This enables the hose to bias the prongs radially inwardly and to thus assist the innate elasticity of the prongs in engaging the external retainer or retainers of the nipple or to urge non-elastic prongs into such engagement. A sealing ring is inserted into an internal groove of the tubular section and sealingly engages the external surface of the nipple.

An expandible annular elastic strap has a circumferentially slotted first end portion, a tongue-like second end portion which extends into the slot of the first end portion, and an intermediate portion composed of an outwardly projecting circumferentially extending median section and two marginal sections which flank the median section. The width of each marginal section need not exceed and can be less than half the width of the second end portion, and the three sections of the intermediate portion of the strap extend all the way from the first to the second end portion. The median section of the intermediate portion can be provided with one or more circumferentially extending slots which taper in opposite directions. The median section reduces the area of contact between the external surface of a clamped hose and the intermediate portion of the strap. In addition, the median section increases the moment of resistance of the intermediate portion and thus contributes to more uniform distribution of clamping force all the way around the clamped portion of a hose which is to be maintained in sealing engagement with the external surface of a nipple or pipe.

Expandible elastic clamping strap for end portions of hoses and the like

A coupling which establishes a separable fluidtight connection between the nipple of a pipe and an end portion of a hose has a composite sleeve with a tubular first section which is insertable into the end portion of the hose and a separately produced second section which is form-lockingly connected to the first section and has one or more prongs engageable with a retainer at the exterior of the nipple. The end portion of the hose is sealingly clamped between the first section of the sleeve and a tubular member which is integral with one axial end of the first section to define with the latter an annular space for the end portion of the hose. One or more sealing rings are inserted into one or more grooves in the external surface of the nipple and/or in the internal surface of first section of the sleeve.
