The invention relates to a multi-layer, preferably co-extruded, plastic film with improved modulus properties, which is suitable, in particular, for producing three-dimensionally shaped articles.

The invention relates to a process for partial colouring, in particular colour laser engraving, of plastic parts, preferably of thermoplastic parts, very particularly preferably of thermoplastic parts comprising a layer construction, comprising the steps of: i) providing a plastic part (A) having at least one surface; ii) laying a colour tape atop at least one portion of the at least one surface of the plastic part (A) to obtain a surface of the plastic part (A) covered with the colour tape; iii) irradiating the plastic part (A) from ii) with focused, preferably nonionizing, electromagnetic radiation (C) on at least one portion of the surface of the plastic part (A) covered with the colour tape, wherein the partial colouring is effected essentially only at the sites on the plastic part (A) irradiated in step iii), wherein the wavelength range of the focused, preferably nonionizing, electromagnetic radiation (C) is in a range from 200 to 20 000 nm, preferably in a range from 300 to 18 000 nm, particularly preferably in a range from 350 to 16 000 nm.

Process for partial colouring of plastic parts using solid colourants in colour- carrier layers

A dental appliance for positioning a patient's teeth includes a removable orthodontic tooth positioning appliance having teeth receiving cavities shaped to directly receive at least some of the patient's teeth and apply a resilient positioning force to the patient's teeth. The appliance includes a hard polymer layer having a hard polymer layer elastic modulus disposed between a first soft polymer layer having a first soft polymer layer elastic modulus and a second soft polymer layer having a second soft polymer layer elastic modulus. The hard polymer layer elastic modulus is greater than each of the first soft polymer layer elastic modulus and the second soft polymer layer elastic modulus. At least one of the first soft polymer layer and the second soft polymer layer has a flexural modulus of greater than about 35,000 psi.

Multilayer dental appliances and related methods and systems

Provided is a layer structure, preferably a security form in a book cover, particularly preferably a security form in a book cover for identification or security documents, comprising at least a) a first radiation-engravable layer a) containing at least one polymeric material; and b) at least one further layer b) containing at least one polymeric material, preferably a thermoplastic elastomer, preferably a thermoplastic polyurethane with a hardness of ≥40 Shore A according to DIN ISO 7619-1-2012-2 to ≤95 Shore D according to DIN ISO 7619-1-2012-2; wherein the further layer b) overlies the first layer a) at least partly to form an overlapping region, and wherein a coherent engraving partly extends in the overlap region, preferably in the further layer b), and partly in the portion of layer a) that extends outside the overlap region, most preferably exclusively in the further layer b). The invention also relates to a method for producing this layer structure and to a laminate comprising such a layer structure and to the use of the layer structure in a security document.

Layer structure with modified structure, and production thereof

A multilayer sheet comprising first, second, and third layers is provided. The first layer consists of a co-polyester having an elongation at break of greater than 70%. The second layer consists of a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer having an elongation at break of greater than 200% and a hardness of about 60 A to about 85 D. The first layer has a hardness greater than the hardness of the second layer. A mold is provided and the multilayer sheet is thermoformed over the mold to form a plurality of tooth-receiving cavities configured to receive and position a patient's teeth from a first arrangement toward a second arrangement. Excess material is trimmed from the thermoformed multilayer sheet to form the multilayer dental aligner.

Methods for making dental aligners from multilayer sheets

A multilayer sheet comprising first and second layers is provided. The first layer consists of a co-polyester. The second layer consists of a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer having an elongation at break of greater than 200%, a hardness of 60A to 85D, an ultimate tensile strength of greater than about 5000 psi, and a light transmission between 400 nm and 800 nm of greater than about 75%. A mold is provided and the multilayer sheet is thermoformed over the mold to form a plurality of tooth-receiving cavities configured to receive and reposition a patient's teeth from a first arrangement toward a second arrangement. Excess material is trimmed from the thermoformed multilayer sheet to form a multilayer dental aligner.

The present invention relates to a layered structure containing at least one layer (i) comprising a thermoplastic material and at least one further layer (ii) comprising a thermoplastic material bearing at least one embossed hologram, to a process for producing such layer composites and to security documents, in particular identification documents, having the layered structure according to the invention.
