A drive system for a motor vehicle is provided. The drive system has a drive assembly, at least one power transmission unit that is coupled with the drive assembly and an electrical machine coupled at least indirectly with the drive assembly. The power transmission unit has at least one starting element with a hydrodynamic clutch and a bridging clutch. A rotor or armature of the electrical machine is arranged coaxially to the hydrodynamic clutch and can be coupled with it in a torsionally rigid manner.

A deep drilling or deep well pump system includes a driving motor, a driven component connected to the driving motor, and a hydrodynamic retarder. The hydrodynamic retarder includes a rotor and stator blade wheel. The rotor blade wheel and the stator blade wheel together form a toroidal working space continuously filled with a working medium during operation of the deep drilling device or the deep well pump device. The rotor blade wheel is continuously connected at least indirectly to the driving motor. The blading of the rotor and stator blade wheel is designed so that, owing to the blade direction in the drive mode, the rotor blade wheel revolves freely. A hydrodynamic brake has a rotor blade wheel and a stator blade wheel with oblique blades and which together form a toroidal work chamber. A series of quick blades are mounted on the stator blade wheel for controlling the flow of braking fluid between the blade wheels and thereby the degree of braking action. Each of said blades is mounted for rotation around a radial axis and can be swung uniformly by means of a common actuating device. In this basic position, the guide blades are parallel to the stationary blades to provide the maximum flow of braking fluid. In a 'zero position' the blades are all in a plane normal to the axis of rotation of the brake, whereby they substantially block the flow of braking fluid within the work chamber. In order to control the braking action, the guide blades may be brought into any desired intermediate position.

Hydrodynamic brake

A hydrokinetic coupling has a primary vane wheel (11) and a secondary vane wheel (12), which define a toroidal working chamber. A shell (17) rotates with the primary vane wheel and envelops the secondary vane wheel. A constantly open and throttled outlet port (31) and an outlet valve (32) are disposed within the shell. The outlet valve can be closed by means of fluid pressure generated in a control line (33). In accordance with the invention, the control line has a fluid inlet (34) which is disposed in the shell interior. This is arranged at a determined distance from the axis of rotation of the coupling, so that fluid can only penetrate into the control line (33) if the slip in the coupling has assumed a specific minimum value. In this condition the outlet valve (32) is consequently closed, whereas it is opened at greater slip values.

A hydraulic coupling is provided which has a primary blade wheel and a secondary blade wheel confining an operating space, said primary wheel having a first delay chamber connected by channels with the operating space located relatively close to the coupling axis and a second delay chamber, predominantly located further away from the coupling axis than the radially outer limitation of the operating space, the second delay chamber being connected with the operating space by large diameter ports, preferably by the radially outer annular gap between the blade wheels.

Hydraulic coupling

A hydraulic coupling is disclosed which has a primary bladed wheel and a secondary bladed wheel confining a torus-shaped operating space. A blade-free ram space is provided inside the blading of the primary wheel. A delay chamber rotating with the primary wheel is connected by channels respectively to the ram space and to the operating space. In each of the channels, a switchable valve is provided which operates depending on the primary speed. A scoop tube is fixed to the secondary wheel. The scoop tube has inlet opening of the tube in the radially outermost region of the inner space of the coupling. The scoop tube directs operating fluid into the radially inner region of the coupling, from where the fluid can reach the delay chamber through the valve assigned to the channel.
