The invention relates to thermoforming plant and their transport chains. Various aspects of the chain and chain rails are proposed. Overall the chain operates such that less wear occurs; it can also be cooled symmetrically and the film can be better heated up to the edges.

In a process of welding pieces of tubing into films with a central electrode the central electrode is divided to facilitate the welding in a single process. In the case of tools with or without a central electrode, electrode lamellae lying next to one another have a free visual connection between edges lying towards the insert piece to obtain a tight welded joint.

Method and apparatus for separating foil layers as well as line for insert welding

In a method for simultaneously welding to one another the layers of several pairs of thermoplastic foils arranged in a stack, a primary heat energy source is positioned between two pairs of thermoplastic foils, and welding heat energy is supplied to the two pairs via the primary heat energy source. The press for performing this method has two pressing elements for applying pressure to the stack of n pairs of layers of thermoplastic foils. The two pressing elements are positioned at opposite ends of the stack and force the layers of the pairs of thermoplastic foils toward one another. A stacked arrangement of n&minus;1 flat, bar-shaped heating elements is aligned with the two pressing elements. Between two adjacent heating elements a respective pair of thermoplastic foils is received such that the pairs of thermoplastic foils alternate with the heating elements. The stacked arrangement of the heating elements is arranged in a plane that is perpendicular to the planes of the thermoplastic foils.

Method for welding thermoplastic foils

A method and an apparatus for welding halogen-free thermoplastic foils or plates, wherein one or more layers or inserts such as, e.g., reinforcement layers, are placed between the foils. The apparatus includes a welding tool which can be heated to the desired welding temperature and a countertool which can be adjusted to a temperature below the melting temperature of the foils. The countertool has a profile which corresponds to the desired welding or stamping contour, particularly a cutting edge. A heat-conducting separating foil can be placed in the welding apparatus for transmitting thermal energy produced by the welding tool and required for plasticizing the thermoplastic foils to the thermoplastic foils, wherein the foils can be separated from the separating foil after cooling. The method includes the steps of three-dimensionally pre-shaping at least one of the foils, so as to form an indentation and a foil support edge raised relative to the indentation. The lower foil is supported in the area of the foil support edge before or after insertion of the layer or layers in the indentation. Subsequently, the other foil is placed on the layer or layers and the support edge. The foils are lined or centered by means of a separating foil which extends in the region between the welding tool and the countertool in the form of a mask extending only along the support edge. Finally, the foils are welded in the support edge region with the intermediate arrangement of the separating foil between the welding foil and the thermoplastic foils.
