The invention relates to a coke filter for cleansing a gas stream, containing a temperature measuring arrangement having a photoconductor which is supplied with pulsed laser light and is passed in a loop through the filter chamber near the outlet openings. In such a coke filter the temperatures prevailing at all critical points are determined in a simple and reliable manner.

Coke filter

The invention relates to the cooling of hot, layered, granular material supported on an air permeable grate through which cooling air passes constantly. Some zones of the material layer have a higher temperature than other zones. Pulses of additional cooling air are passed through the higher temperature zones at such velocity as to enhance cooling and to relayer the material at such zones. In this way the degree of recuperation of the grate cooler can be substantially improved.

Method and apparatus for cooling hot material

The invention relates to a method and to apparatus for the heat treatment of fine-grained material using a calcination zone which is arranged between a preheating zone and a final combustion zone, and after passing through the calcination zone a proportion of the material is introduced into exhaust air from the cooling zone and delivered therewith back to the calcination zone for the purpose of recirculation. In this way a good burn-out of the fuel used in the calcination zone and a high degree of deacidification of the material are achieved.

Method and apparatus for the heat treatment of fine-grained material

The invention relates to a suspension heat exchanger for heat exchange between gas and fines. It contains a plurality of cyclone separators which lie one above another with their axes aligned vertically and in which the cover walls and the inlet pipe connections of the substantially straight upper parts of the cyclones are inclined at an acute angle with respect to the horizontal. This contributes to a particularly simple and space-saving overall construction and to a favourable material separation with relatively low pressure loss.

Suspension preheater

The invention relates to apparatus and to a method for the heat treatment of fine-grained material using a multi-stage cyclone preheater and a combustion chamber supplied with tertiary air from the cooler, in which the branched part of the tertiary air pipe extends upwards and the material discharged from the second-lowest stage of the cyclone preheater is introduced into one branch pipe at a point which lies lower than the point at which this branch pipe is connected to the combustion chamber. In this way good dispersal of the material which is delivered pneumatically to the combusion chamber and excellent combustion conditions are achieved at the same time as a considerable reduction in the overall height of the entire cyclone preheater.

Apparatus and method for the heat treatment of fine-grained material

The invention relates to apparatus for driving a thrust grate cooler, in which the division of force is provided on the low-moment side between and electric motor and a reduction gear system. Such a construction is distinguished by substantially reduced expenditure on construction and manufacture.

Reciprocating grate drive apparatus

The cooling apparatus which is preferably constructed in the form of a grate cooler contains in its material inlet portion a material transfer arrangement with at least two rows lying behind one another of transversely extending air boxes which can be supplied with air and have upper surfaces with air holes. The clear opening width of these air holes (area for the air to pass through) is adjustable, so that all air boxes can be supplied independently of one another with adjustable quantities of air. In this way the streams of cooling air can be adapted to differing local ranges of grain sizes of the clinker on the material transfer arrangement.

The invention relates to apparatus for heat exchange between gas and fine-grained material containing a plurality of cyclone-like separators which are arranged one above the other and have bent central axes. Such a heat exchanger is distinguished by a particularly compact construction and a good separating capacity of the individual separators.

Apparatus for heat exchange between gas and fine-grained material

In apparatus for cooling hot material, a material transfer stage is provided in the material inlet of a cooler and acted on by cooling air. The transfer stage has a plurality of air-permeable carrier elements spanning the breadth of the inlet. At least one group of the carrier elements is arranged with a downward and forward inclination of approximately 10.degree. to 20.degree. in the direction of material transport. The carrier elements have forwardly facing sides provided with openings through which cooling air may pass.

A driving apparatus for producing a to-and-fro movement and having four plunger cylinders and four external non-return valves. Such driving apparatus is distinguished by a particularly simple construction.

The invention relates to a device for shutting off a pipe using generally U-shaped spring steel strips as sealing elements, each such element comprising a pair of arms which converge toward one another form an arcuate web at an acute angle. The deformation of the two flat arms of these sealing elements is limited by two flat, rigid rolling surfaces which are tangential to the web. Such a construction is distinguished by satisfactory functioning and a long working life.

The invention relates to apparatus for introducing fine material into a combustion zone by means of an air duct which has a constriction in the region of its junction with the material duct in such a way that the rate of flow is considerably increased at the point where the material is introduced and this favors the loosening of the material stream and the delivery of the material to the combustion zone.

The invention relates to a push grid comprising grid panels which overlap one another and which are alternately fixed and reciprocable longitudinally of the push grid; grid panel supports provided with a slot-like opening for holding the grid panels; tie members which project through the slot-like opening in the grid panel supports and which, at one end, engage in the associated grid panel; and spring elements arranged between the other end of the tie members and a web of the grid panel supports accommodating the slot-like opening for biassing the connection between the grid panels and the grid panel supports. In order to obtain reliable fixing of the grid panels to the grid panel support, for example even in the event of an excessive increase in length of the tie members or in the event of breakage of the spring elements, the web (7) with the slot-like opening (6) is arranged inclined relative to the horizontal and the suspension point (14) of the tie member (4) on the grid panel (1) is situated at a greater distance from the lower than from the upper end of the slot-like opening (6) (FIG. 2).

Push grid

A cyclone intended in particular for multistage heat exchangers, the inlet of which communicates with several partial spirals lying one above the other and having different lengths decreasing in the downward direction. A cyclone of this type is distinguished by a considerably reduced overall volume and weight for substantially the same pressure loss and degree of separation.

Processes and apparatus for the heat treatment of fine-grained material, particularly for the production of cement, wherein the material is preheated in a preheater, further heated in a precalcination zone using additional fuel, calcined to completion in a rotary kiln, and cooled in a cooler, the preheated material being introduced into a cooling air stream run off from the cooler and the resulting mixture of gas and solids being introduced from the side into a gas pipe which connects the rotary kiln to the preheater and through which the kiln exhaust gases flow in the upward direction.
